New Charge 3 Not syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I am at a breaking point with Fitbit!! New Charge 3. Just received it yesterday and today it will not sync and keep getting Bluetooth issues when my Bluetooth is connect/on. I had problems before with my one. I will get the standard suggestions. I thought the charge would be better guess not. I am so tired of the same problems over and over again. I am so done!

I have checked app updates on my phone and the computer. There aren’t any updates listed.

Hello @ASM64. Welcome to the Forums @eph21.

Thanks for trying all of those steps to get your Fitbit to sync before posting @eph21.

I'd like to ask you some questions to better understand what is going on:

  • What phone are you using to try and sync?
  • What Android version is it running?
  • Did you set up notifications at the time it was working properly?

@ASM64 Thanks for being around to help!

Look forward to your reply. Let us know if there are any further questions.

I'm using a Moto G5 Plus and the Android version is 8.1.0. I think the notifications were set up.

Hello @eph21 and @ASM64.

@ASM64 Glad to read that it is working now. Let's keep an eye on it but I'm happy to read that you can use it as intended now.

@eph21 In that case please try to follow these steps:

  1. Go into the phone's Bluetooth settings.
  2. There, look for any Fitbit devices and remove them from the list. Including the Charge 3.
  3. Now restart your phone and then run the set up process once again.

That should help in getting it to sync correctly.

Let me know if there are any further questions.

Still having trouble getting the tracker to sync. Quit again the last part of November. Took out of phone, put back and it worked. For a while. Now it won’t sync.
Phone shows it in Bluetooth as a paired device. But it won’t open when I tap it. So I can’t take it out of phone and connect it again.
Tracker still won’t work on computer.
I shouldn’t have to remove and reinstall tracker every week. Right now all I have is a glorified pedometer. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks.

Hello @eph21.

Thanks for letting us know.

Given that the Moto G5 is not a supported device we cannot guarantee that it will work properly. It could be that there are some optimization issues that cause it to stop syncing like that, and since it has bonded to your phone it won't sync to other devices.

You could try to turn off the Bluetooth on your phone when you try to sync with another device, that should help your Fitbit to sync.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi,
I’ve tried it with Bluetooth off. I’ve even taken the tracker out of the phone and tried to sync with my computer. Neither one helped. Thank you for your response.

Hello @eph21 and @jlaff777.

@jlaff777 Have you tried all of the steps that have been suggested?

@eph21 Thanks for giving that a shot. Let's try another thing then. Let's remove the connection between the phone and the Fitbit and start from scratch in the computer:

  1. Go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and look for all Fitbit devices that show up as paired.
  2. Remove all of them from the paired list.
  3. Run the set up process on the computer as if you had a brand new Fitbit.

That should do it and let the Fitbit continue syncing to your computer.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

My fitbit hasn't been able to sync since 20 Dec, it's now Dec 28.

I've tried updating the app but it continuously says update failed without a reason why.

So frustrating!

Tried everything described in the last 2 pages so far with no luck.  In Bluetooth settings my android located the device.  I click on it - it says "Pairing".  Then says "could not pair with Charge 3 check your Charge 3 settings". About to return it.  I've been through 3 devices in 3 years with decent results up until now.
