This is a horrible, horrible, horrible new design. I just read about a 100 messages and didn't see any good reviews. Everything I read is negative. How many reviews do you need to know that they're a lot of unsatisfied customers? Why change what worked? I don't mind change at all. I am an IT person and I can tell that this design didn't take a long time to do. Poorly designed. I hope the 5 year old you hired got fired.... Bring back the old design.

Exactly... there are so many issues with this redesign that it's even difficult to go through all of them. All I can say is that the UI/UX designer was probably inexperienced, not to mention the Product Manager that approved this design, and neither of them was a regular user of the app and Fitbit products because, otherwise, they would have immediately realized the mess they were doing. So sad that a company like Google, that actually creates some of the best apps in the world, has done such a poor, superficial and careless job in this case.
It's so bad that they can't just fix it. They need to pull the new app, restore the original one, then go back to the drawing board with different and more experienced people and give us a good redesign, that does not remove functionalities and is not harder to navigate and to use like this one, one year from now. Or just leave the old one (wich I think no one was complaining about) and improve that one. Does anyone care about having the app in Material Design if it's done so badly? I don't think so.
It's like they wanted to spend as little as possible on that. I bet that they got a UI designer from some other team and told them:
- "Hey, this is the Fitbit app, you have 6 month to convert it to Material Design"
- "Well, ok... but I've never used Fitbit products, and I never workout, I don't even know what people are doing with this app."
- "Don't worry, you'll do great!"
Yes, the more I think about it, the more I'm sure that this is what actually happened.
