I am appalled but not surprised by the way Fitibit forces everyone to use the new dashboard, Despite many, many negative responses on this forum and on facebook, Fitbit simply follows its own plans and ignores its customers.
Precisely because of companies like Fitibit, I don't have Automatic Updates switched on. I manually approve each individual app update by looking at the What's New section. And this is why I mention "deceptive tactics". There is absolutely nothing in the latest What's New section to suggest that the new dashboard design becomes mandatory and that the option to revert to the old design has been taken away.
All the What's New section states is:

Fitbit Update 05/24/2017: Hi everyone -- Thanks for your feedback on the new Android dashboard. At this time, there are no plans to revert to the old dashboard. Prior to the changes in the 2.48 app version update, there was an announcement made on the forums that included this information here. I am closing out this thread to prevent any duplicates on this topic. Please leave any additional feedback in that post to keep one unified conversation going.

I guess I dont understand. This is THEIR web page. They should be able to change it any way they want.
The dashboard and the forums are FREE to use as well.
There has been no deception in anyway.

I can't agree that the dashboard is free. We pay for the fitbit and it is worth nothing without the app to run it!

Do you pay to have millions of people use this website? No Fitbit does. It's thier Right to change it any way they see fit. They pay for the space and allow many people to use it at no cost.
Just because you bought a device doesnt mean you own the rights to this website.

@WendyB, you keep mentioning the Fitbit website, but you're mistaken: the topic starter refers to the dashboard layout in the newest update of their mobile app (v 2.48).
The layout has been changed permanently in v. 2.48, even though for months before that the customers had an option to choose between two layouts.
The mobile app is a part of the deal and an integral part of the user experience, because the trackers need to use the mobile app to sync the data.
Which is why the first post focused on changing this component without notifying the customers of its permanent nature.

@Elena_Iv.Webpage or app makes no Difference. Its still owned by Fitbit and they have the right to change it anyway they see fit.
Sure complain all you want. Sure they are part of it all. But it still boils down to who owns the website is it you? Don't think so
They are not taking the ability to use the website or app away from you in any way. They are just changing some of the things to better serve you.
People dont like change but it happens. Get use to it as it happens on all websites

Every Fitbit owner has paid for the app within the costs of the tracker!

Hummmmmmmm I dont think so.
App is free to download. I can use it without a Fitbit tracker. So you are wrong @LesleyJW

Where do you think Fitbit gets the money to pay for the website and app ?
From the Fitbit sales, of course. We are their money tree !

@WendyB- the user may not use the mobile app only if they have a Windows 10 PC with the built-in bluetooth or a dongle.
Users who don's own such computers need to use the mobile app, there's no other way for them. I am still on Windows 7 and happy with it, and not planning to change it any time soon.
"to better serve you" -- that's the point, what they did made things worse. After this last update, the app has become unusable for me.
The sheer number of people who have registered on this website for the first time to post their one post about how they don't want this new layout forced on them should speak volumes.

Everyone should read these paragraphs in the Terms of Service they agreed to when they created a Fitbit account:
"Fitbit may change or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, any feature or component of the Fitbit Service at any time without notice. Fitbit is not liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension or discontinuance of any feature or component of the Fitbit Service. We reserve the right to determine the timing and content of software updates, which may be automatically downloaded and installed by Fitbit products without prior notice to you."
And....
"We make no warranty that the Fitbit Service or Fitbit Content will meet your requirements or be available on an uninterrupted, secure, or error-free basis. We make no warranty regarding the quality, accuracy, timeliness, truthfulness, completeness or reliability of the Fitbit Service or any Fitbit Content. You acknowledge and agree that if you rely on any Fitbit Content or the Fitbit Service, you do so solely at your own risk."

This sheer number is probably quite small compared to the millions of trackers sold. Most first time users of the Fitbit tracker and app have never seen anything but the new app dashboard, so they have had no reason to join the discussions about switching back to the old version.
