Welcome to the Forums @Soundman1.

It is important that a high number of steps doesn't necessarily mean you will get active minutes as active minutes are not strictly minutes were you were doing something, they require a certain minimum intensity. You can read more about them in this help article

Hopefully this helps out!

Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

@Soundman1  Create an Activity Record Activity Record Icon.jpgon your PC from your Activity Log. and analyze the calories..

The continuous 10 minute rule applies which needs a calorie burn of 3 times your sleeping/resting BMR. per minute..

The graph below shows you what can happen. I used Workout on the Ionic and renamed the Activity to Shopping which did not affect the Active Minutes.  The Graph is creating from the Activity Record Icon on your Activity Log.  it's non destructive.. A copy of your Fitbit Activity.

Hello @Soundman1 and @Soundman1.

Thanks for that image @Colinm39.

@Soundman1 While you are doing activities for long amounts of time, it is possible that those activities do not reach the needed intensity. Active minutes doesn't mean minutes that you were active, but minutes that you were performing an activity more intense than normal. For example, if during your jogs you stopped to take short breaks or your HR didn't go that high then it would explain why active minutes weren't tracked, same for mowing the lawn. Be sure to check the help article I shared above.

Now, the HR situation you mentioned might be related to how the Fitbit perceives the intensity of your activities. Could you go a bit more in-depth into what you mean that the HR sensor won't work?

Look forward to your reply.

What i mean by the HR sensor wont work is that sometimes it will monitor my heart rate and other times it doesn't even register on the heart rate at all. My wife also bought the same device and she cannot even get her heart rate to show up on the device.  So either she has no pulse or something is badly amiss and as she is still breathing i would say she has a pulse. Again considering we paid $300for the devices i would say its not good enough.

@Soundman1Thanks for getting back to the forum. Most Fitbits come with the HR setting as Auto and when you turn the watch over and look at it the pulsing should stop.

If you feel that is not working correctly, for testing, you can set it to ON for a short period... but will have extra battery drain.  That will prove the HR is working and then you can examine the Active Minutes.

If there is an issue there this link has your manual and page 21 shows you the settings menu on the Versa.

@Soundman1 When you say, "doesn't show up", on what.?

Also does your App show your Resting Heart Rate? When you tap that tile, does it show your actual Heart Rate?

@Soundman1As  Community I don't think we can help you any further other than suggest you contact Support..  This link will give you the options.  In Australia we have the email link and I believe in the US you only have that after hours.

From your posts it appears you have an expensive pedometer on the basis it's syncing and you cab]n see steps either on your phone dashboard or web browser or PC browser

Let's hope you can get the Support.

Hello @Colinm39 and @Soundman1.

Thanks for sharing all of this.

There are several reasons why the HR sensors might not be working. I'd recommend that you try going through this help article. It talk about exactly this and offers some reasons and tips as to what might be happening.

If it didn't work, then going with what @Colinm39 mention would be best.
