I have paired and unpaired several times but no notifications. Fit bit notifications are turned on and my phone has been set to accept and send notifications. I also have a Garmin vivosmart he and have never had this problem. Please advise, thank you

Welcome to the Forums @Jayner59.

Thanks for bringing this up.

This is happening because the Samsung Galaxy A5 is not currently a supported device. So even if you did get notifications, it doesn't mean that the phone is compatible. There are some users who can synchronize with non-compatible devices. If your phone meets the requirement of Minimum Supported OS (Android 4.4 KitKat), you can try the tips on this syncing help article.

Note that we don't guarantee that the functionality will be successful as we are still testing on this phone model.

Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

Welcome to the Forums @gijoanna.

That can be very bothersome, thanks for sharing your experience.

Please follow the steps I mentioned above. Keep in mind that the Galaxy A5 is not compatible and thus we cannot guarantee that it will work correctly.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

It seems to notify phone calls sporadically but not texts or emails. I still like the watch and wear it unless I need all notifications. Then I go back to my Garmin. Hoping Fitbit will put the A5 on the "good" list soon! Thanks

Hello. When will the A5 finally be added to the list??

My A5 and Fit bit have finally made friends. As long as I don't lock my phone with a password of symbol. I am now getting notifications of phone calls, emails and most texts.

I had to go through my phone and unlock a lot of standard controls to finally get it to work.

Thanks

Hello @Jayner59 and @Klaufit.

Thanks for sharing your positive experience @Jayner59.

@Klaufit We do not have any updates at the time on when can we expect the A5 to be added to the compatibility list.

I've heard some users talk about a Third-Party app called Fit Notifications. It's supposedly helps with incompatible devices. Perhaps you could give it a try. I do have to make it clear that it is not developed by Fitbit and thus we cannot guarantee its functionality in any way. It is only something that I've seen some other users talk about.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Thanks. I will try. I just dont understand why it takes so long to test the A5. It is such a popular phone, and there had been complains about it for ages. It does not seem that Fitbit cares about this at all. Clearly they could have added it to the list long time ago if they wanted to

Our team is fully aware of the need to add more devices to the compatibility list and it is being worked on.

Reading that adding the Samsung A5 has been on FitBit's  radar towards phone connectivity for almost 3 years. Latest firmware update has taken my phone/watch sync offline unless I reboot everything and reinstall my device. So incredibly frustrated with the spotty connectivity.

Interestingly a Fitbit Support Person to turn ON locking on my phone.

My A% seems to synch and text notifications happen but dealing with them (how they appear on the device, options etc) seem to be hit and miss.Quote

I have a month till I can return the Fitbit. Hopefully the A% will make Fitbit's list by then!
