Fitbit not only incorrectly characterizes a rowing activity as a swimming activity, the edit function no longer works.   Upon saving the entered correction of rowing (replacing swimming), the edit is overwritten by swimming.  Editing seems to be a chronic issue for Fitbit.  Will Fitbit ever fix this?

Hello @jjv241

The issue has been escalated to the team and a ticket was opened to track it.

Unfortunately, we don't have any idea when the fix will be rolled out.

This is good news, I came here to report the same issue. I'm not sure when this started, but I noticed it a week or two ago.

I like to add the distance into my automatically tracked walks. I'm not sure why Fitbit doesn't do this, as it already knows the stride length. You could try and sneak this into the bug ticket! 😁

Other times I'm editing a mountain bike ride to gardening after mowing the lawns etc. so I look forward to getting the fix.

When I mow the lawn, Fitbit records it as Mountain Bike. I could always change it to Mowing Lawn, but it no longer holds that edit. Is anyone else having this issue? Around the same time, syncing with the third-party app, Cronometer stopped syncing vitals, exercise, and steps.

Hello,

I would like to rename my activities automatically recorded by Fitbit. But it's impossible!!!
I press the pencil, change the name, click on "save".
But the it is not saved and the old name remains.... 😫

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello @2Flo9

The bug that affects the ability to edit completed workouts was partially fixed, but has come back again.

The issue has been escalated and the team is working on a fix. Hopefully, it won't be too long before the fix is rolled out.

Hi everyone!

@RiekoC Thanks for sharing your insights.

Hi, things seem to be worse after yesterday's update.

Automatically tracked activity from yesterday only showed a heart rate trace, no step or calorie information, not zone minutes and how that activity has impacted on the day's goals.

I went to take a screenshot to demonstrate but the activity no longer loads, just a white screen with a spinning circle.

Since the most recent update this has been happening to me as well. I can enter edits to exercises, but after I hit save all of my changes disappear and it reverts back to whatever was auto-detected.

Same for me. I contacted support about it and was told it's a known issue, so presumably they're working on it.

Hello @rownie23

Regarding your exercise data, I looked at the Fitbit Status Dashboard website and saw that there was an issue with the Web API starting around the beginning of September. This impacts data syncing and is apparently the reason why we're having problems with seeing our exercise data in the Fitbit app. The current status is still showing the Web API issue as of today, 06 Sep 2024. So, they must still be working on fixing the problem.

Please be patient. I'll keep checking the status daily. Hopefully, it won't be too much longer before it's fixed and we see all our exercise data again.

Do you think that this web API issue is contributing to the overall decline of the app? Mine no longer syncs reliably to my Charge 5, with just a blinking red exclamation :exclamation_mark: on the device page within the app. Looking at the latest reviews on the Google Play Store, many, many people are having problems.

Fitbit's response there is to point people to troubleshooting guides, despite people explaining that the troubleshooting doesn't work.

Same. This issue happened before, was fixed, but now it's back 😞

The Fitbit app was updated to version 4.26.1 on the 19th of September, but that hasn't helped.

Correct. I tried it too.

Hi Lizzy, thanks to you and Rieko, updating this thread

I’ve just noticed this week (on iOS) the issue is the same eg I’ve logged a run but want to change it to a walk and not able to… when it’s fixed will I be able to retrospectively do this for these activities? Thanks
