Not getting Google Maps notifications

I recently set up my Blaze with a new phone and am receiving all notifications except Google Maps turn-by-turn directions.

I previously used an iPhone and this feature worked.  I'm now using a Nexus6 on Android 8.1.0.  My Blaze does receive notifications for all other apps I have configured, including built-in and 3rd party apps.  "Maps" is checked in the app notifications list in the fitbit settings.  And I do get turn-by-turn notifications on the phone home screen from Maps, but not on the Blaze.  I do have the volume on mute on the phone, but set notifications to override do-not-disturb mode, and all other notifications do get through.

I've tried turning settings on and off for notifications, bluetooth, power cycled both devices, removed and re-paired the Blaze, etc, and nothing has helped.

Thanks for going through all of those steps to get the notifications to work.

I'd like to recommend that you try following all of the steps in this article, which are very similar to what have you tried, but let's try to complete them all in the order the show up. That should help with getting the notifications that you want to be receiving.

OK, I've gone through all the steps, and it didn't change anything.  At least as far as I can tell.  I still continue to get other notifications (the fitbit test call notification and email notifications were what I tested with).  I don't have the time to walk a few blocks every time, but when I start a route in Google Maps it does show a notification for the first turn in the directions in my notifications list.  I can't say for sure that the first turn was pushed to my iPhone in the past, or if maybe it was only later turns.

After completing all the steps I did go walking with maps directions.  Turn-by-turn instructions kept popping up in my notifications screen on the phone, but the only notification pushed to my Blaze was about an email.

I have also confirmed again that under the Notifications -> App Notifications settings that Maps is checked.

Beyond the issue with missing maps notifications, here's some feedback on the help article:

One big frustration, in Notifications under the vertical '...' menu is Disable Notifications.  Why is this not a toggle on and off?  It was very frustrating to disable them, restart the phone, and then find out that there is no Enable Notifications option and I manually have to re-enable every notification type individually.

The app actually crashed on the last set of steps to 'forget' the device from the phone bluetooth, after which I tried to send a test call notification from the app.  I submitted feedback and logs about that problem.  After the app and syncing I couldn't get any notifications to work.  I had to turn off and back on bluetooth on the phone before it restarted sending notifications (but still not including Google Maps).
