Not receiving text notifications

For about 2 weeks, I have not be getting text message notifications, but I get phone call notifications. I have uninstalled the app, reset my Versa, and my app is up to date. What else can I do?

Seems odd that your Versa device is not receiving text notifications only, this is certainly not the way we designed this specific feature. Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot your Fitbit prior posting. To better assist you, can you please let me know which Android mobile device you're currently using? When was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then? This is occurring periodically or since the first time it was experienced you just stop receiving text notifications? In the meantime I receive your answers, I recommend you to check: How do I get notifications from my phone on my Fitbit device? for more information about how the notifications feature works to verify that there's no missing requirement that's preventing you to receive text notifications. Also, move forward to the troubleshooting steps specified on: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone and let me know how it goes.

I am also not receiving text notifications only from messages from my Samsung galaxy s9+. I get all other notifications. It is strictly the Messages app that is not se ding notifications. I have triple checked to make sure all my notifications settings are on, restarted my Fitbit Versa, updated the app, nothing has worked.

I have the same issue with not receiving text messages on my Versa. It started right after I updated to the Android app ver 3.0 It is NOT a connection issue since I still get all other notifications on my Versa... Weather, phone calls and when I reach my step goal. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S8. Everything worked fine before the Android app update. I have tried the usual.. uninstall the watch..restart the watch..restart the phone... re-pair the watch to the phone... uninstall the app and reinstall.

I ahve been experiencing this for about 3 weeks. I have also done EVERY step in fhe troubleshooting guide numerous times. I'm receiving the call notifications but no text messages.

Thanks for letting me know about this issue. I'd like to let you know that Fitbit is aware of this situation and working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible. Sorry for any trouble this may cause to each of you, I totally understand how important this notifications feature is. Can you update on the progress of the text message issue following android update?  I too have stopped receiving texts but all other notifications are working.  I am frustrated with my device - first one stopped working and had to be replaced within first 60 days and now this.  I haven't had my Fitbit for a year yet and it is not functioning as the device I paid for.

Yes I would like information on the fix also. About 2 weeks ago I stopped getting text messages notifications from my S8 to my Versa. I have tried all kinds of ways to fix it and this was before the latest versa update. I was hoping the update would fix it!! I get all other notifications i.e. calls and IG.

I am also having problems. I get email, calendar and phone notifications. I also get about 1 in 10 or 20 text message notifications. I thought the smartwatch would be a convenience but if it is unreliable then it is only an overpriced watch.

I have had this problem off and on several times now.  I do what is recommended and it doesn’t fix the problem.   I get call notifications, but not text notifications.   I wish this would be resolved permanently. What is the status of this issue?

I have not been able to receive text notifications on my versa lite since doing last update.  I receive all other notifications. I have done all the troubleshooting steps and nothing has fixed the issue. It is getting very frustrating.

I am having the same issue with my fitbit iconic. I updated my Samsung s10+ and now I only receive phones and not text messages.

I am having the same issue. I have an android 10, I don't receive texts or calls on my phone but I receive everything else (fb messages, instagram notifications,  e mail). It started after there was an update for the fitbit app (about 3 weeks ago). I called fitbit on 1/4/2020 to help trouble shoot any problems with no success. The female gave me a generalized answer of "maybe fitbit will release a new update". I called fitbit again on 1/7/2020 and spoke to Matel, he tried to trouble shoot it with no success. He told me "you will have to wait until fitbit release a new update". I asked when that would be, he responded "there is a new update every month". I told him I've had this watch at least 6 months and this was the first update I've seen. I asked to speak to a supervisor (Edward), he tried troubleshooting also with no luck. He then said "customers like the notifications,  this problem should be sent to the top of the list to be fixed with Fitbit. Until then there is nothing I can do. You can look at this website to see if your phone is up to date........(website he gave me listed below)".  I asked him if I could return the watch because I'm not satisfied, he said "no, because it has been more than 45 days". I don't understand why fitbit thinks this is a new problem. It would be nice if there was a message at the top of the screen stating "we are aware android is having issues receiving notifications". I have a android 10, I tried troubleshooting with Fitbit and by myself according to this link with no success. I would like a refund if this problem still persists.

Also having an issue with texts notification. Have a versa lite and an S10. All up to date. All permissions on. Did all troubleshooting. Still nothing. Is there to be a fix soon as this mist be a software issue?

This is irritating as heck.  I have a brand new fitbit versa 2, Samsung S9+, set all of the obvious permissions and blah blah, get the notifications for a phone call and not a text.

 

How does this most obvious functionality get out of testing?!  So, it's just, "hope and prayers that fitbit fixes this?"

I have a solution -- kinda gross.

 

Make the text notifications a different app than the one you're using and then configure the notifications for the main texting app you use as a general notification.  This seems to work fine for me.  That is, the bug seems to be that notifications for whatever is the blessed text app in fitibit don't get sent, but other notifications *do* get sent.

Update:  I did spend some time on the phone with a Fitbit person.  I found out that you can hold the left button on the Versa for a couple seconds or so and you can them see your texts.   I just hate that I don't get notified when they're received.  They did tell me that this is a problem that they've been having.   Very irritating.

That is actually quite smart. I will give that a go when I have some time and see if that works for me. It's kind of an ugly feeling to have it set improperly, but oh well lol
