Note 5 fails to sync after recent AT&T update to Android 6

I can sync my surge on my laptop but not on my Samsung Note 5. I reloaded the app but still no joy. I just get the "Sync error. Try again" message.
After syncing on my laptop, I can see the data on my phone so it is connecting to Fitbit.com.
Bluetooth is on and the Surge is paired...

RESOLVED:Phone app reinstalled then phone shutdown and restarted. Works now.
