Notification service not running...

I'm getting a message under notifications.

"Notification service note running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker"

I restarted.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the fitbit app and restarted again.

No dice. Any help?

Hi @shigginsdev  there is a new Android app version being rolled out to us. Version 3.7 started arriving yesterday, so it will get to all of us in turn. I'm waiting on mine to show up. That should take care of a few issues. Keep an eye out for that update. Hoping it solves the glitches for us! Information can be found in this post - click to read

"It will get to us in turn" sounds very non-committal 🙂 Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep an eye out for the update.

@shigginsdev  It gets released in blocks, I've been told, but it usually gets to me within a week.

Hi,

My friend and I purchased versa a couple of days ago. These are some of the problems we are facing:

1. Notification service not running

Tried everything from restarting the phone and tracker, uninstalling and installing back the app, deleting data etc. We have the 3.7 version of the app released on 30tb september and are still facing Feb issue

2. Steps counting while in a cab

On an average , 200-300 steps get added while travelling. And the roads aren't that bad either. Have set it to dominant hand, even though I wear it on my non dominant hand.

It is a shame that Fitbit has not figured out the issues with notifications. I have purchased several Fitbits and apple watches and come back to Fitbit because I WAS a loyal customer. For Fitbit to take soooo long getting the notification issue figured out is ridiculous! I am extremely disappointed!!! Now a week maybe but come on this is poor customer service.

Would you expect it to still not be rolled out to all users?  Im still on version 3.12.   I clicked update and was told that it's already up to date. Got this as a Christmas gift and considering returning it soon if I can it it resolved quickly

I owned a Alta previous and had the same problem. Thought that now that is a year later (and I have a different phone) that I would be better.

Maybe my expectations are too high... 🙂

As I continue to experience this issue with my Ionic and both this forums and customer service seem to point to an existing known bug and app updates as the solution (not that they really work) I will share the workaround I found to "fix" this. I used to uninstall the Fitbit app on my phone and a fresh install would work, with the inconvenience of having to configure everything all over again. Now I do the following:
1. Go to Settings.
2. On search type "notification access".
3. Select Notification access option from the results.

4. You should see the Fitbit Notification Service on the list and it will probably be enabled.

5. Disable and then re-enable it.

That's it! This should save you some time while we wait for the so long promised fix to the very well known bug.

this is the one that works for me whenever notifications stop on the charge 3. I switched to garmin for while and it worked great until the year was up on warranty and then it wouldn't charge and they said it was cost of a new watch so i thought i would try the fitbit again as i wanted one that let me do laps in pool with results on my wrist and it was cheaper than garmins.
