Number inside red ball on Fitbit icon

This red ball that is the same as the red ball on icons on my Samsung tablet and phone which indicates activity in the app represented by that icon.  When I go in to Notifications on the bottom of my Fitbit Dashboard it says no notifications and no messages.  

The number is now at 6 and I don't know if I'm missing anything important.

@NancyTB   I presume this is what you see.....

If so, there should be a message in the Notifications with a pale blueish/green background. Something like..... xyx posted for the first time in a while ! Check it out... Just tap that..

 

If not, there is an issue..
