Pairing problems

I've got a new phone and my fitbit charge is syncing my steps and sleep to the app but I can't actually pair it by Bluetooth to my phone to get phone notifications. Tried adding it as a new fitbit but that hasn't worked & the phone notifications are a very important aspect to me. Please, any advice?

I think I've worked out that my new phone isn't compatible with my fitbit. Very annoying, but there we go, wish I'd done a bit more research before spending a fortune on a new phone that's causing me nothing but problems!!
