Got a Charge 3 from Santa so have decided to pass my Alta onto my son. Have unpaired from my phone, installed Fitbit on his Android, set up Fitbit Ace but it only gives me option to set up an Ace band (which doesn't work!) - Google tells me i can use an Alta with the Ace function. If I can't, do I have to delete the Ace account in order to set him up with the Alta?

I'm curious where you found that you can set up an Alta with the Ace function. I don't think that is true.
Ace is the only tracker that works with the Family account.
The Alta has to be set up with its own account. If your son has his own phone and you want him to have control of his own account, just set it up on his account. However if he is under age 13, he will not be able to set up the Alta in his own account.
If you don't want him having access to his own account, you would have to set up a separate account/email on your phone for it. But the you would have to keep logging in and out you the 2 accounts on your phone.

That's just saying you can use the same wristbands, i.e. the bracelet part separate from the actual tracker.

That is clearly obvious now I've read it properly! Sorry...
I'll set him up with a normal account for the Alta then 😂
