Pixel 4 - Sleep editing

My wife and I both have a Charge 6.  I have no issues on mine, sleep logs seem good, start and end. When I edit, the sleep or awake times fill in and score might change slightly, all seems normal.

But in my wife's... It either doesn't start her log until 3 or 4 hours after mine, or stops at 3am when she's snoring until 8am.  When I edit to show wake up at 8, the log is blank from 3 to 8.  This happens 3 or 4 times a week.

All I can think is she has small wrists and it's just not sending a pulse, but that seems really odd for 3 or 4 hours.  She uses an old Pixel 4a, could it be the app? Bad watch?

Hi @tcat007, welcome back to our Community, is nice to see you around!

Thanks for sharing with me that your device is working fine. I see what your wife is going through with her Pixel 4 recording data.

A good first step is to prove that your wife is using her device on the proper way, you can prove it in this following article. How do I wear my Fitbit device?

factores que afectan sleep tracking

  • Check if your sleep setting is set to Sensitive. If it is, change it to Normal
  • To accurately track your sleep, make sure your device is positioned higher on your wrist, about 2-3 finger widths above the wrist bone. The band should feel secure but not too tight. For detailed instructions, check out How do I wear my Fitbit device?
  • To adjust a sleep session’s start or end time, edit it in the Fitbit app. For instructions, refer to How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Hello @tcat007

Just to confirm, your wife doesn't have any tattoos or scars on her wrist where she wears her Charge 6.

One thing your wife could try is wearing her Charge 6 on the inside of her wrist at night. Some users who have problems with consistent sleep tracking have reported that they get better sleep tracking when they wear their device on the inside of their wrist.

Please let us know if this helped her get better sleep tracking.

Also, just to let you know, there's currently an issue on the Fitbit side where editing the sleep log doesn't update the sleep stages graph or sleep score. The team is aware of the issue and has been working on fixing the problem. I understand that an update to the Fitbit app, ver 4.57, should be rolling out soon and should contain the fix.

Thanks, will have her try the inside of wrist.  Yes, the sleeping not updating is the biggest issue. But I guess I'd the data isn't there, updating won't do much good.  She does get a good score 2 or 3 times a week, just not consistent.  Sensitivity was set to standard, trying sensitive tonight.

Hi @tcat007

In some cases, the data is there. However, the bug is causing the issue where the data isn't showing in the app.

Case in point: I had to edit my sleep log a few weeks back when it was broken into 2 logs. After I combined them, the sleep stages graph didn't update in the app. Instead, it displayed a blank section for the first couple of hours which was the beginning of my sleep tracked a separate log. Yet, the sleep stages graph on my Pixel Watch 4 showed sleep stages for those hours.

When I get the app update, I'm going to see if I can find that night where I had to combine the 2 sleep logs to see if the graphs got updated.

I have plenty of 4 hour "blanks". Be nice if the update fixes past ones!  Is it a watch or app update coming?

Hi @tcat007

It's an update for the Fitbit app.
