Pixel watch 3 /-fitbit app no longer showing sleep stages

The teams that my pixel watch 3/ pixel phone/ Fitbit app combination is no longer showing sleep stages or logging my sleep sessions. I would say it started about a week ago. The Fitbit app shows the time that I was asleep, but that's it. It no longer shows the sleep stages and it only says two nights logged of sleep when I have worn it every single night for the month so far.

Hello @jarichardusa

Please let us know what troubleshooting steps you've tried so that we don't mention those.

This help page has the recommended troubleshooting steps to try when you don't see sleep stages (<-- click link)

By any chance, are you also seeing issues with heart rate tracking? Do you see a green light on the back of your Pixel Watch 3? The green light is the heart rate sensor and is needed for tracking sleep data.

I am having no issue with heart rate tracking. So far as far as
troubleshooting steps go I have synced and resynced the watch with the app,
I have uninstalled the app from the watch and the phone and reinstalled, I
have cleared caches. The only thing I have not done yet I think is factory
reset the watch but I was really hoping to avoid that.

I have the same problem with my Pixel Watch 3 starting at 10 january

Best Answer

Having the same issue, started Jan 9th.

Edit on 13 Jan 2025: I Forced Stop; Cleared Cache/Data; deleted/reinstalled app; Rebooted both Watch3 and Pixel 1 phone. Next day, SLEEP TRACKING IS BACK!

I started having the same problem on the 9th. Instead of stages, I now just get Awake, Restless, and Asleep. (Restarted phone and watch.)

I have the same issue starting the same time. Pixel 3 watch and Pixel 6 phone. I keep all software up to date. A similar issue happened a few months ago. It disappeared when the update for the Fitbit app on the phone rolled out to me. I found in anther thread that 4.34 is rolling out. I am currently on 4.32 with no updates available.

I have had this issue with apps on my phone where dependent apps rollout updates at different times or even on different days. Due to this, I manually update apps on my phone several times a day. My phone frequently gets a few dozen updates in a single day. If I don't update manually, I have found that the Auto Update for phone apps stopped working with dozens of updates available.

I hope this helps and have a Terrific day!

Same problem. OK on 9th Jan, just basic sleep information starting from the 10th. App does not say that it couldn't obtain information. All other functions work as expected.

This morning I had my sleep score and sleep stages back. Yesterday I restarted my watch, maybe this solved it or it is a coincidence.

I'm getting the same with my pixel 1 watch and 6 pro phone. Happened since the app on my phone was updated on Jan 9th

Okay, so since none of the other things ended up working, I ended up factory resetting my watch and that ended up fixing it. After the following night it was showing all appropriate sleep stages.

I'm having the same exact issue since January 10th!  I don't understand what's going on.  My Fitbit app is at version 4.32 on the PW3

I also had my sleep score and stages back this AM. Yesterday, I powered the
phone off/on, restarted the watch, and last night I cinched the watch band
up a notch. Any one of the three actions (or none?) might have had an
effect. I will never know until the next time.

Restarted my watch yesterday after reading some of this, and seems to have returned the sleep stages data in the app - hopefully will work for others

The Fitbit app on my phone updated yesterday. It is still 4.32. The issue still persists. Today I restarted my watch. I will see tomorrow if that fixed it or I continue to wait for the newer version of the phone app.

Have a Terrific day!

After restarting my watch I had two nights with good sleep tracking and a sleep score. But this night it was again not good.

Hmmm... I power cycled my phone (Pixel 9 Pro) and restarted my watch (PW3)
on Sunday. I have had three days of sleep stages and scores. I did also
cinch up the watchband a batch, but I'm not sure that really helped
anything

After I restarted my pixel watch yesterday, the 4.34.1 update arrived for the Fitbit app on my phone. I applied it. this morning it is working. I don't know which of the two actions fixed the issue.

Have a Terrific day!

I am guessing the fix is the ".1" update. I had not looked in the app to
find out what version I was on after the phone power cycle, but I did go to
Play Store to see if there were updates available for the Fitbit app. I
have had it happen in the past where the Store will show an update
available (why do they not just install automatically?). None were shown.
Anyway, Monday AM the app was working. I did just check the app to verify
that I am at 4.34.1. Now at days 4 of "normal" app behavior regarding sleep
stages and scores.

This is the second time this has happened to me. It looks like the normal part of the update process. It never occurred to me that an update could show in the Play store without being rolled out to the phone. If that is the case, then that adds to the number of possible fix possibilities, and places to check. ☹️

Thank you for the information @earlydawntim and have a Terrific day!
