Pixel watch 3 /-fitbit app no longer showing sleep stages

The teams that my pixel watch 3/ pixel phone/ Fitbit app combination is no longer showing sleep stages or logging my sleep sessions. I would say it started about a week ago. The Fitbit app shows the time that I was asleep, but that's it. It no longer shows the sleep stages and it only says two nights logged of sleep when I have worn it every single night for the month so far.

My Fitbit app updated on 1/23/2025, that is when I stopped getting my sleep stages and scores. I am running Version 4.35

My Fitbit app stopped showing stages for three, maybe four days. Then it
started showing stages again. At that time (after function was restored), I
looked in the app on my phone (Pixel 9 Pro) and saw I was running 4.34.1.
Was that the fix? Don't know. I do know I am still showing stages this AM,
and after seeing your post, I discovered I am also running 4.35. Because of
the sequence, I won't know for sure if anything has changed until tomorrow.
I'll report tomorrow morning.

Sequence is important. You say the app updated on 1/23. To what version?
You do say you ARE running 4.35 NOW, but might there have been some updates
in the last few weeks.

My reading of posts indicated that an update to 4.34 caused the issue. When
it fixed itself, the version was 4.34.1. Now I am at 4.35, but I have no
idea when that happened. A week ago? An hour ago? As I said, I have had
sleep score functionality since I saw 4.34.1 on my phone. I won't know for
sure what the status is until tomorrow morning. Or maybe I will just take a
really long nap today.😄

Thanks for the replay, earlydawntim. Unfortunately, I can't tell you when
the upgrade to 4.35 occurred. I didn't even start looking into it until
last night and I was already there. I just flipped back through the days
until I realized the change occurred on 1/23.

I also have a Google 9 Pro. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app
last night (that didn't fix it), restarted both phone and watch, and force
stopped the app. Just about everything suggested - I even tightened the
band 1 notch. 😕 No love! I really don't want to hard reset my phone
unless I know that's the fix.

I'm really bummed that I'm no longer a hedgehog - I'm a parrot now,
although what they base that on is beyond me.

Let me know if it's fixed for you tomorrow, please.

Today the sleep stages and score were still there.

You did say something that was interesting. You flipped back through the
days to realize the problem started on the 23rd. I knew the first day
because I check the app every day when I get up. I did not investigate
until the second day, thinking it was just a glitch. Then the problem went
away...with the 4.34.1 update?

You said you "restarted" the phone and watch. I first did that with no
change. I then remembered that many times in the past I have noticed that
restarts of electronics don't really do the job. I then did a power down on
both. Still no change, but I feel better about the function of a power off
compared to a restart. I don't know this is the case for these devices but
a long time ago I determined that warm boots and cold boots get different
outcomes sometimes. Not saying this is "the" answer, but it can't hurt.

Hi! I had no change today, either. I don't always check for my sleep score
that's why several days went by before I noticed it. I have a question, if
the problem started with an update to the Fitbit app, wouldn't the problem
be with that app and update and not with the watch itself? That's confusing
and one reason I'm resisting doing a hard reset. I had to do one with a
previous watch and it was a PINA to get it back the way I wanted.

I'm also hesitant to call or text Google, I haven't found them to be very
helpful in the past. I'm hoping for a fix with the next update. 🤞🏻

I would not discount that the watch is involved in some way, but I did not
do a hard reset of the watch, and I would not recommend that for you either.

Your experience is very different from mine, both in timing and duration,
especially since my watch was "fixed" before you even noticed the problem.
Weird.

I do have a Watch 3 and Pixel 9 Pro. You said you have a 9 Pro. I am
ASSUMING you also have a Watch 3? The phone is running Android 15, the
watch says it is Wear OS 5.0 (there is a lot more information under
"versions" on the watch, but I don't want to try to type all that stuff).

I also have the 3. My phone is Android 15, my watch says it is Android 14,
and Wear OS 5.0.

Mine is not showing sleep stages, readiness score or stress management scores for about the last 10 days. Sleep only shows hours slept, awake min, and restlessness as well.

I have rebooted both my phone and Google Pixel watch 3 numerous times and still did not populate any of the above. Anymore suggestions on a fix?

I do not know if this is an issue, but I will bring it up just in case.

When I first encountered the issue, I opened the Fitbit app on my phone.
The app opened, but it did not show that I had a premium account. I had to
spend some time trying to determine when I had last been billed for premium
(annual billing). I also had to figure out how to get into Fitbit on my
computer, since I had misplaced the login information.

Over a couple of days until the problem "fixed itself", I did not worry
about the app because I don't reference it that often anyway. After sleep
stages were restored, I also had the app on my phone show my premium
account status. Related? I don't know. I do think it is odd that people
keep mentioning this problem that existed for me over a month ago and has
not shown up again in that time.

solved...I contacted Google via  chat.

After confirming my watch was fully powered, I had watch on tight,  heartbeat monitor on etc.,, they told me to reconnect watch to my  phone.

  1. Went to Fitbit app on phone.
  2. Clicked battery image at top left
  3. Clicked add more devices (even though my watch was already showing as synced)
  4. Selected Pixel Watch 3
  5. Then  she had me go to fitbit settings and change sleep sensitivity to normal.

Worked that night for next day.

Glad to hear it! Mine started working mysteriously several weeks ago after
trying various suggestions. Technology is wonderful as long as it is
working! 😁

Did it. Will see how it works tonight.

Before I reconnected the watch, I looked at the sleep setting. It was
"sensitive". Re-connected the watch, changed to "normal".

I hope this works and that it will work when and if this happens again. I
have been without sleep modes for a week and was convinced I was just going
to cancel Premium.

Rhetorical questions: Google knows everybody who has a Watch 3 (at least
the original owner), do they not? Is this fix was available to Google chat,
could it not be communicated to EVERYBODY? BEFORE THEY HAVE TO ASK? Just
sayin'.
