And a few days later, out of the blue, the Fitbit app prompted me to pair the tracker. Frustrating that Fitbit chose not to care about people who upgrade their phones. Perhaps they assume they throw away the tracker with the old phone because searching for "replace phone" makes me feel this was ignored: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/Search.htm?q=replace%20phone
The upgrade process is already frustrating enough given that the app data doesn't transfer over to new phones like most modern apps do.

I have a Charge 5, and now I just got a new Pixel 6 Pro to upgrade from Pixel 4 XL. The phone upgrade process was a snap and Android 12 quickly restored all my apps and settings from Pixel 4. Unfortunately, that didn't apply to the Fitbit app which for some reason required me to login again. I guess the app is old and needs updating?
Second, I was told to click to enable pairing, but nothing happened.
Now I'm stuck with the Fitbit app on both phones, but no guidance on how to move the Charge 5 to the new phone. Without guidance, I saw in forums that clicking "forget Charge 5" on the old device, will allow pairing, but no luck.
Are there proper instructions in the app or web on how to move the device to a new phone?
Moderator edit: Subject for clarity.

@crazy_vag Hey Martin. Welcome back to the forums. I will gladly help you use your current Fitbit device with your new smartphone. You just have to log in in the Fitbit app and all of your data will be displayed, even the devices that are already set up. Syncing will begin automatically, as long as Bluetooth on your smartphone is enabled.
Even though you restored the Fitbit App on your new smartphone, you must log in, in order for your information to be loaded an displayed. This happens because the data is not stored on the Fitbit app itself but on our serves. Once you log in, your data will be loaded on demand and immediately displayed. Some app elements such as icons and overall titles will be stored in the caché storage for quicker display. However, primary storage is our servers. That is the reason you still need to log in, even though you restored the app from you previous device. It is actually a more modern solution for handling data. That way you have the information in handy regardless of the device you use to log in.
Now that you have a new device, you would just need to set up notifications once again, so that your Charge 5 will display your new smartphone's incoming notifications: That´s about it.
Have a nice day!
