Recieved Android Fitbit App 3.43

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Received the App update this morning 2021-06-18.

Seems to work, though curiously syncing was a problem after the update.

Clearing the cache and force stopping didn't help.

However on the phone, logout, login, then going to the home screen and clicking on the sync popup relinked the device, Syncing works since.

Nothing seems fixed, but Steps count now dubious, it seems to be under counting considerably, but early days and it may be due to the recent Sense firmware update 2021-06-15 to 44.128.5.38.

I too received 3.43.  It seems to have made syncing VERY unstable.  All notifications also seem to be broken. Receiving a text message on the sense is now iffy at best. Curiously the step count seems ok, but when you force a manual sync by pulling down the top of the screen in the app; the battery percentage of your device no longer updates.  Mine is stuck at 96% even though my Sense shows that it is charged to 100%.

Hi  @bumbleklutz  Did you clear cache, force stop and logout? Since doing that syncing seems better than before for me.

After a few days monitoring, Steps are ok on continuous stepping though still not sure if the false alert algorithm has changed - seems to ignore more than before a few paces taken at a time, but that may be the firmware update as the two updates came together.

Yes, that was my first troubleshooting step and generally it fixes most problems.  Unfortunately, closing the app or restarting my watch causes the notifications to break.  The only way I have found to fix the notifications is to remove my Sense from the app; uninstall the fitbit app, reinstall the fitbit app and then set up my watch as if it were a new device.

As far as the step count, I have noticed that it "seems" to be missing steps, but when I check the count later it appears to be fairly accurate.  I'm wondering if this is an issue with the new firmware causing the step count on the watch to take a bit longer to update than before.

@bumbleklutz  have never uninstalled the Fitbit App on Android, especially as you have to setup notifications all over again.

Instead try removing Sense from the Bluetooth on the phone.

When you login to the App, go to the phone home screen without closing the App. A sync popup appears, click on it and it should pair and link. At least it does on a Samsung S9+.

Think you are right about steps, just seems different behaviour but still working.

Of course you restarted the phone recently?

Edit - I have added a step that seems to make this fix permanent.  It has now worked for me for over 2 days with no issues.-I think I've probably fallen victim to the "android app bug".  Syncing is fairly stable for me, but ALL of the notifications are broken. The only way I have found to get them working, is to remove the tracker from the app, uninstall the app, restart the tracker and the phone; then reinstall the app and set the tracker up as if it were a new device.  When setting up the tracker allow all the permissions that the app asks for; and if it asks to use location services "all the time" allow this as well.  (This may take you to a settings page in your phone.) This gets everything working; but its a temporary fix.  Eventually, the notifications stop working again.  Hopefully, Fitbit can figure out the issue and releases a new app update soon that resolves the issue. Edit--I have since discovered after doing all of the above steps, that if you tap your profile picture, tap your device, tap "notifications" scroll down and disable "enable transliteration"; syncing and notifications work as they should and they CONTINUE to work as they should.  I occasionally still have to log out of the fitbit app and log back in to get the battery levels to update, but this is a minor inconvenience compared to not syncing/no notifications.  Hopefully this fix works for others
