While waiting for my new Charge 6 to arrive, I am trying to find instructions for the process for replacing the old device in the app. Instructions at the website appear to refer to some previous version of the app. Is an updated step by step guide for the current version available?

@Gryllotalpa when you add your new Charge 6 to the Fitbit app, you will get a prompt to remove your old device. You need to do that in order to pair your new device. It happens automatically. There are no extra steps that you need to follow.

Thanks!

I was looking for the "add new device* command at a wrong place ( in my profile instead of the upper left corner with the battery percentage").

Just to make sure - some instructions advise to remove the old device furst - dies it make any difference?

One more question: will the old device keep any personal data after it has been removed from my profile?

Hello @Gryllotalpa

It doesn't make a difference if you remove the old device first then proceed to add your Charge 6 or tap on Add New Device. Either way, your current device will be removed from your Fitbit app so you can add your Charge 6.

Your old device should keep your data for up to 7 days in its memory. After that, your data should be gone from the device. You'll probably want to perform a sync to make sure all your data from your current device has synced with your Fitbit account before you start the process to add your Charge 6.

You can perform a Delete your data from your old device (factory reset), if you want. If you let us know which Fitbit you have now, we can provide the instructions on how to delete your data.

Update: Charge 6 arrived, up and running. Some pairing issues (resolved) described in the Charge 6 section. Old Charge 4 purged of data successfully.
