Resetting Android app?

My Fitbit app on my Android phone was not updating the sync status for the last few days, even though the web site indicated that syncs had occurred.  I resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the app on my phone.  That leads to my question: is it possible to "reset" the app to an initial condition, so that memory leaks, etc., are wiped out and the app works "like new"?  I think this would be better than uninstalling and reinstalling the app, since other users may decide to simply uninstall it.

Perhaps logging out and then logging back in would accomplish a sort of "reset"?

"Hey everyone -- this is where you can find release notes for the latest version of Fitbit app for Android."

These were the notes
"Version 2.61
Released:  October 30th, 2017
We fixed some bugs and made stability improvements"

Fitbit has become a joke!
Products break, and Fitbit don't care but keep themselves REAL busy releasing new products!
They issue, or let others (Verizon) issue updates which render their wearables inactive for weeks (as per sync issues of August!)
And yet on their social media pages all they do is apologize and/or delete posts that show them in a bad light!

I've emailed, and messaged them questioning if it is even safe to install their new "update"?!?!?

Mine would not allow access to the app inless I updated.  Then the update rendered it useless.  Catch 22.

I keep seeing fixes for Iphones, but nothing for android.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled, I've reset the fitbit. My phone's bluetooth doesn't even see the fitbit, but that's the way it worked since the previous update.  Now it's not even good as a watch since the time change.  I'm so disgusted.
