Samsung Galaxy J3 6 (2016) compatibility

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I am having issues linking up my Versa to my Samsung Galaxy J3 6(2016) running Android 5.1.1.

I know full well what the issue is - my phone is too old! But as it says "Samsung Galaxy J3" on the list of compatible devices, and isn't more specific, who am I to know?! Heh

It connects perfectly fine to the app on my PC.

So I get on to tech support, and guess what they tell me? I "may have a defective Versa"

...

I mean, really?!

Pull it together tech support! And make it clear which Galaxy J3 will work!

Hi @SunsetRunner. I'm glad to see you here in the Forums! I'm sorry for the delayed response.

Thanks for the information provided as well for taking the time to troubleshoot your Versa with our Support team. I understand your point of view about the compatible devices list and let me clarify with you that our team optimized the Fitbit app so it can work on phones and tablets based on the requirements of each model and OS, and future Fitbit app versions will also adapt to any change implemented in the OS. While your phone's model appears on that list, it must meet the minimum requirements (Android 7.0 or higher and Bluetooth 4.0) so it can work correctly.

Since you've contacted dour Support team, I'd recommend to continue working with them so they can provide you with your details about your case.

I'll be around if you have another question.

@LizzyFitbityeah, thanks. Have come to my own conclusion that my phone just does not work with it at all and I need a new phone with a more updated OS.

Can't be done until at least next May sadly and by then support for Versa may have ended along with the release of newer models etc.

@LizzyFitbitsaying that, I've not had the update of fitbit OS 4.0.2 come through for my versa yet, despite it saying on the pinned post about the update that it had now been rolled out to all users.

Hi @SunsetRunner. It's always nice to see you here and I'm sorry for the delay.

Thanks for your question and since your phone doesn't have the required OS version, that might be the reason why the new firmware update wasn't offered to your Versa. In case you're able to, I'd recommend to use a Windows 10 computer with built Bluetooth so you can sync and update your watch. For more details about syncing with Windows 10, please check this help article.

Keep me posted.
