Syncing Problems with Android 9

I totally regret buying a FITBIT. I first bought my in Jan/19 and not long after I had to replace for a new one, because just stopped working. Now I am having problems to syncing to my Android. I already contact support and they said that my phone wasn't one of FITBIT approved app (wow, funny, I have been using the same phone since Jan/19). They guided me through all the reboot steps possible and nothing. After a very difficult chat, finally, the support said the FITBIT is experience issues with Android 9 and I should keep trying to sync until it works. 😡  Seriously?????

@JuliaTr A warm welcome to our Community!

Sorry to hear about the syncing issues you are having with your phone. Also thank you for troubleshooting the issue with our Support team. Android 9 has been known to cause syncing issues in general but still you could try these following suggestions:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device
  • Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find additional suggestions here.

Let me know how it goes.

Why do you guys need GPS to sync with bluetooth? And please don't bring up the change google made 4+ years ago as there are work arounds to allow BLE interactions without GPS.

I chatted twice with Fitbit "support" and I already did all troubleshooting possible. Restart my phone, unistall my app, unpaired my fitbit and so on 😤. What really annoys me is the fact that Fitbit mislead customer to believe that our phone is no compatible or we are doing something wrong, but at the end Fitbit already knew about the Android 9 syncing problems.

By the way, I did what you told me and surprise, still not working.
