Hiya,

I had my fitbit set on my s8 so it said "message" when I got a text message but on my new huawei it always shows the sender, how do I change it back to just saying message?

Hello @Alarielle, nice to have you here as a new member of the Fitbit Community. I was reading you want to change the option for your text notifications only shows "Message" in your Huawei. Is this correct?

If this is the case, note that the Fitbit app only offers option to see the sender's name or the sender's name along with the message.

If this is what you are looking for, you need to access to your Notifications settings by taping your Account tab.

Here, access to your tracker's tile, Notifications and select "Text Messages" and you will see the selected message app you have configured. Tap on top of the app you have selected and a prompt will be display to choose among the two options mentioned earlier.

Let me know if this helps. I'll be around if you have other questions.

Hi!

No I want it to say "message" like it used to? I don't want people in meetings seeing who is texting me.

Why would the generic "message" option be removed?

Hi there @Alarielle, my apologies for the late response and thank you for clarify what you are looking for.

In this case we received reports in the past from some users, this was an issue and I believe you were experiencing the same behavior with your previous tracker. Note this hasn't been an option in the notification settings, beyond from the two I mentioned earlier.

Hope this explain why you were receiving this generic notification. Catch you later!

@RobertoME what I'm noticing lately with the notifications of text messages is in bold print it will show the sender's name and then it shows the sender's name again right before the text message itself. Also I'm receiving text messages more than once. In other words, I will get one text message from somebody but I will be notified about that text message multiple times on my Charge 2 unless I go into my phone and actually read it, then it will stop notifying me.

Hello @SunsetRunner, good to see you around in the Fitbit Community! I'm sorry since I'm not being around lately and I'm wondering how it goes? Is the issue still persisting with your notifications?

Certainly this is an odd behavior, that perhaps might be address if you re-enable the notifications from scratch. I'm going to share the steps, however only try this if the issue continues:

  1. Unpair your tracker in your mobile device's Bluetooth settings. If you are unsure how to verify or change settings for your mobile device, refer to instructions provided by your device manufacturer. For most Android mobile devices, tap Settings > Bluetooth, find your tracker in the list of paired devices, and then tap Forget or Forget Device to unpair your tracker.
  2. Reboot your mobile device.
  3. In the Fitbit app, tap Allow notifications access again and allow access to the Fitbit Notification Service, and then turn on call, text, or calendar notifications.

Keep me posted and stay tuned if you need more help.
