Sleep Data not tracking properly

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Quite frustrated. Bought my PW2 about 4 weeks ago, for the first 3 weeks the Sleep Tracking had worked fine. 4 days ago however, I noticed my PW2 had not tracked any sleep data. I realized this was because FitBit hadn't tracked my heartrate (for whatever reason). While I'm not sure why this happened, I can at least link it back to the heartrate tracking issue.

More worryingly, since this occurred, my sleep data has been very limited. Over the last 3 nights, I can no longer see my Sleep Stages (awake, rem, light, deep) and I no longer receive a Sleep Score. My sleep is still being recorded, but my data is limited to awake, restless, and asleep. It seems this simplified data is also much more innacurate than the Sleep Stages data.

I haven't been sleeping in any positions that differ from usual that would affect data colleciton, I haven't been using the Begin Sleep Now option, I have been sleeping longer than the 3-hour minimum, my PW2 isn't critically low. I feel like I work for Fitbit support myself with all the diagnostics and testing I've done.

I have been in contact with Fitbit support but they have unfortunately been very little help. They keep redirecting to forums that I've already read and told me to tap Learn More on the sleep tile on the Fitbit app to "see the reason why you didn't get a sleep stage." Nowhere in Learn More does it show the reason why, that's why I contacted support in the first place... It feels like support are running me around in circles in attempts to defer my issue.

This whole debacle has been more than disappointing as I spent months deciding what smart / fitness watch to buy, gave the Google Pixel Watch 2 a chance, and now the feature that drove me to buy the watch (Sleep Tracking) is not working. Even more frustrating, support has been little-no help.

Fitbit, if this is an update issue I would love to know, because then I know it's an issue that is hopefully going to be resolved. But at the moment, I am very much so in the dark, I am on the brink of returning my PW2 and opting for another fitness watch.

Hello @lijameshancock

Thank you for sharing the details of your sleep tracking issue. You mentioned you had an issue with heart rate tracking. Was that resolved? If not, that would explain why you're still having sleep tracking issues. The heart rate sensor (green light on the back of the Pixel Watch) is needed for sleep tracking.

If you don't see a green light on the back of your Pixel Watch, you have a defective device. Contact Support and let them know your heart rate sensor isn't working.

Hey there, hope you're well! I gave these steps a go yesterday afternoon prior to going to sleep. Woke up this morning with hope, but to no avail. My PW2 is still only tracking Awake, Restless and Asleep 😞 I'll attempt the steps you suggested in the 'Luxe stopped tracking my sleep data' forum. Thank you.

Hi mate, since that initial night with no sleep tracked, the heart tracking has worked perfectly fine. It has been tracking my heartbeat all-day and all-night, green light sensor is present, but still waking up with limited sleep data. Quite frustrating

I have the same issue. I have reset the app and waited two days and it is still just awake, restless and asleep with no sleep score.

Hi, @GregE2, thanks for the feedback, the link seems broken. The process I described was belt & braces delete & reload your Fitbit app (this took two tries on my part but is at present holding) I have Fitbit app V 4.29, just updated - it previously worked on V 4.28.3.

Sync your Fitbit app, go to your phone settings (this is for Android - similar moves on iOS should also work) >apps>Fitbit>force stop>clear cache & storage>uninstall>RESTART YOUR PHONE>reload the Fitbit app from the Play store>set up the app again, logging in with your Google account>wear your device overnight, make sure it is comfortably snug on your wrist. Let us know how you get on by posting here again.

Cheers

Thanks I tried that from advice of the Pixel Watch forum. It did not help. I could have tried again but since that I have done a full factory reset on the watch itself. I will see what happens tomorrow morning.

Hi, @GregE2, I do not think this is a PW issue (I have a PW2 updated to Android 13/July - so completely up to date). Try the Fitbit app delete/reload process again.

Factory reset is done, tomorrow I will know what happened. Yet another rest of the app might come after that.

Resetting the watch fixed the issue for me.

I'm having the same problem where my sleep tracking is not showing the same detail it used to and it is not providing a sleep score either.  This has been for the last 3 nights.  In addition, I am not receiving information on the breathing rate or HRV.

For some the solution is to uninstall the app, then restart the phone, then re-install the app. I tried that twice without success. For me I needed to do a factory reset on my watch and the stats came back. Make sure you sync your watch and then your data is backed up in the cloud. Then maybe remove the app, restart the phone and then re-install the app. Then do a factory reset on the watch and then go through the process of connecting the watch to the app again. It worked for me. Good luck. It should work.

I tried the easier method mentioned above first, I restarted the watch last night.  Everything worked this morning.  So this is really a problem with the Pixel watch, not the app. The watch is what is not recording the data and is getting stuck.  Fitbit needs to look at issues with their brand new watch, not the app.

Have you had any luck with this problem?

I was still using a Charge 2 that was working fine until 5 days ago.  Then I began to receive only limited sleep data (Awake, Restless, Asleep), no Sleep Score, and under Health Metrics only Resting Heart Rate, no longer Breathing Rate, Heart Rate Variability (the important one!), etc.

I thought it was because the Charge 2 was dated, so I purchased a Charge 6, used it last night... same results...

You need to go into the phone settings then apps then the Fitbit app. Wipe the data. Uninstall the app. Restart the phone. Re-install the app and log in to your account. Then go through the process of pairing the watch again. I had to do this twice until it started working again.
