Hi there. I bought my fit bit charge hr in the UK but now that I'm in South Africa I would like to convert to the south African food database. However, there doesn't seem to be one. There is one on myfitnesspal. Is it possible for fit bit to use that database? If not, when will a south African database be available?

Sorry, but Fitbit cannot use MFP's food database and I would not expect then to create one unless there is a significant number of people who need it. Not sure if Fitbit even sells in South Africa. You may be better off using MFP and connecting the accounts.

Can you please add the South African food database to Fitbit? Really frustrating trying to log my food intake. Fitbit gear is selling in Sourth Africa and from what I've seen is very popular. I'm currently using FatSecret app to get my calorie count, then i log a quick count in Fitbit. It's horrible having to use two apps. Btw FatSecret is a fantastic app, which i could rather link my fitbit flex to that app. Even the excercise logging is fantastic there. The fitbit one is not so much!

It definitely does sell in South Africa. There's a huge fitbit community here. A bit less ignorance from the US.

@NixfizzleYou can definitely integrate your MFP account with your Fitbit account by following the steps outlined here.

There is a huge usage in SA - and demand for food types to be included

Yes I got my Fitbit yesterday but the excitement soon faded after I realized I cannot add South African food 🙄 and I see people have begged Fitbit for 4 years about it thinking I made a mistake

Hi Dfly7,

You have chosen a good device and one of the very best platforms.

I've tried Nokia, S Health, Jawbone and Fitbit. I really miss Fitbit device
and platform since I changed to Samsung.

Use MyFitnessPal for logging your food. Has SA foods and systems and
seamless connection to fitbit.

Only failing I see from Fitbit is the limitations they are placing on
themselves.

I get it but it is quite sad because why sell a product in a country that you are not even programmed for and telling users to download a different app to make up for this short coming really isn’t solving the issue actually just added more problems in my opinion if our South African money is good enough to buy their brand they should at least attempt making a plan to add it as a Country in their software and judging from others they have not done so in 4 years!! Raises the question of why?

Fitbit sell a huge number of devices in South Africa.

Apps like Fat Secret di gave an SA database and it is very disappointing that Fitbit is so slow and behind the times.

Channie, I share your frastration. It’s time they wake up and take note where their client bases are. It they willing to take our money they should make the services available. Does not make sense tgat Fat Secret are able to achieve this but a corparate like Fitbit don’t have the skill or competace to achieve this.
