Question: how is it possible to have different step count and miles when walking with friend, same height, age and distance?

When using GPS, height and age are not a factor.  Different step count is easy - one of you took more steps, probably due to different stride length.

Distance though should be same.

 

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Without knowing what tracker and if whether or not you, one or both, are using GPS, there's not enough info to go on.
