@eric1963 Our engineers have worked diligently on your tracker's algorithms to make sure that it does not pick up false steps or activity recordings while in a car. Unless you are driving in a car with a stiff transmission or on back country roads, your tracker should not give you credit for any work that you don't do.
If you do pick up some steps while driving, check out Can I delete data? for instructions on removing steps.

Fitbit engineers may have succeeded at teaching the fitbit to distinguish automobile travel from walking, but they have failed miserably to teach the fitbit to distinguish golf cart travel from walking. Because golf courses are not smooth and golf carts have very stiff suspensions, 80% of my golf cart riding distance gets reported as walking. Please go back to the drawing board and fix this problem.

This is a problem for me as well. Golf carts, 4 wheelers, horses, bikes...all examples of a problem with the step counting. My suggestion is to have a GPS system (or whatever works) that lets an individual set at a mph it will stop counting. For example, you may want it to stop counting when you are going 5mph and up. Or if you are a runner, maybe it is 15 mph. When you are on a horse, it would be 0 mph. Etc. Or, press an icon on the phone, indicating what activity you are doing that would calculate in general. That way it can be an individual setting depending on what you do. Just a thought.
