Steps in Challenge don't match steps on dashboard.

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Adventure Challenge thinks I've only done 10000 steps since midnight, yet the workweek hussle is correctly showing the 15000 I've actually done.  Both challenges started at midnight and both say sync is up to date.

Why is this happening?  I'm not using any 3rd party apps, etc. just step count on my ionic.

I should be winning!!

Thanks.

Hello @Jolleybaby, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and the details that were shared in your post. Below are possible reasons for this issue with the steps of your challenge:

1. Your steps have fully synced to our database but you're not viewing the mobile app dashboard in Live Data Mode. (Live data mode would show the word "connected" under your tracker tile).
2. You manually logged an activity. Steps from manually logged activities do not count toward challenges; only steps recorded by your tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges.
3. You used MobileRun to track GPS data with your app. Only steps recorded by a tracker or MobileTrack are counted toward challenges.
4. All challenge participants are not in the same time zone.

We also recommend waiting 15 minutes after syncing your Fitbit data to see if your challenge updates. For more information, see our information about challenges here

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi.
None of the possible options/reasons apply.
Any other suggestions? This happened over the weekend with a trail
challenge and is happening again this week.
Workweek hustle and Pohono Trail running simultaneously from midnight
Sunday yet showing different step counts.
Workweek hustle is correct, trail has me behind by thousands!
Both fully synced.
Thank you

Your update is appreciated @Jolleybaby, sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for your clarification and the additional details that were shared with me. To further investigate this situation, can you please let me know which Android mobile device are you using? When was the first time you experienced this particular issue and how many times since then? If you haven't already done so, please try the following steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.

Keep me posted.

Hi
i'm using the Samsung Galaxy S10. I've tried reinstalling the app,
unpairing and re-pairing my watch, re-starting my phone, leaving the
challenge and then joining it again. I first noticed the inconsistency
with steps last weekend. Have tested it twice since and it's still doing
it. I have the most steps so far today at 13,592 and this is showing
correctly in the Workweek Hustle. My closest 'rival' is 3,000 steps behind
me; yet in the Valley Loop (which started at the same time) that same rival
is showing as 1,710 steps in front of me. We've both synced in the last 10
minutes.

Valley Loop is 35,800 steps. I've done 13,592 so have 22,208 until I
finish - yet the app says I have 29,976 left before I finish. So it's
missing 7,768 of my steps! Why would this be happening?

My device automatically picks up 'exercise'; like when I walk or do a
fitness class - those steps would still count though right?

I can't think of anything that would be causing this.

It's driving me insane! Thanks for the help.

Did they get back to you with a solution? I have the exact same problem. Dashboard is updated by valley loop shows only a few hundred steps as against a few thousand that are on the dashboard.

Hi

No they didn't.  I have a different phone ow and even a different watch but there's always a discrepency in the challenges v my daily stats.

I just stopped joining those adventure challenges.

Let me know if you ever find a reason or solution!
