Steps not added when fitbit app is open

I noticed that if I have the fitbit app open, the steps I take aren't being added to the total steps indicator in the app. And the total steps number doesn't increase in the fitbit device. So the steps aren't being added. But if I have the app closed on the phone, new steps are added in the device, but the unrecorded missed steps aren't added. Is there a setting in the app or device to change or fix this?

Hi @FitApex, welcome to the Community Forums!

Let me share with you that if you have the All Day sync feature enabled on your device, this is the reason why at the moment you close the Fitbit app the steps that you walked are synced and reflected in your account. As it turns out, when you have the Fitbit app open you need to sync your Fitbit several times to see the steps that you're taking because All Day sync feature works background.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
