Steps recorded when Fitbit was charging

I forgot to put on my Fitbit, when I went out shopping this morning - it was left charging at home. I was carrying my phone with me.

My phone shows over 3000 steps in the time I was out, although the heartrate shows nothing recorded for the same time.

Was my phone recording steps and posting to my Fitbit app.  I've had Fitbit for about 18 months, not seen this before.

Do you have mobile track enabled on your phone @GrandmaEB? only you can answer if the phone was setup as a tracker.

In settings under the device list, do you see Mobile Track?

Yes, I do have Mobile track in the list. I thought this just meant my Fitbit was paired with my phone.

Before I had a Fitbit,  I used Samsung Health to count steps,  but can't find that app on my phone any more, so I may have uninstalled it.

Mobile track is designed for those that want to use a Fitbit account without a Fitbit tracker, or for those that at times are unable to wear their Fitbit but still want their steps counted..

Your phone was counting your steps and adding them to your Fitbit account.. With the next sync these steps where update on your tracker.

Basically everything is good and things happened as they are suppose to happen.
