Got a new Fitbit put it on took a short walk. rode my motorcycle for the day and it is as if I'd been taking a 4 hour walk. Isn't it compatible with motorcycles?

Welcome to the Forums @MIKEFERRELL.
Thanks for bringing this up. I'd also like to welcome you to the Fitbit family.
The movement of the bike can definitely cause the Fitbit to count steps or to think that you are walking. Having said that, you can delete the steps tracked incorrectly during your biking. You can click here to find steps on how to do it.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

This "solution" is not helpful at all. I use my motorcycle for 90% of my traveling (no exaggeration). I either have to go into the app daily to correct the data, or leave my fitbit home. How about adding an easy-to-use "pause recording" function to the app or better yet to the Fitbit?

I ride my motorcycle all the time, for both short and long distances, and it is a GIANT pain to delete this data from the app. I tried the Drivebit app, and it does not work automatically, so it's just as much of a pain. I don't understand how I can be traveling at 50km per hour and the Fitbit assumes those are steps. It has access to my GPS. It should be an easy fix.

Yeah, I have the same problem and the thousands of extra steps it adds while riding on a simple errand around town makes it pretty much useless on those days. Since Fitbit can't or won't fix the problem, the least they could do is add an on/off manual manual switch to the watch so one could easily turn the fitbit off when getting on the bike and easily turn it back on when one reaches their destination.

Have you added your vote. It doesn't look like many are interested.

@Rich_Laue I suggest you look a little further. In 2014 a suggestion was made, Option to turn off step count.... This has 3,747 votes. Comments have be locked on this. Doesn't exactly encourage people to vote on it.
This matter of an easy way to prevent the registration of erroneous steps turns up regularly. People who spend a lot of time driving or riding, especially with frequent stops, don't appreciate the hassle of having to retroactively edit their data as it means they would need to keep a written record of their activities. The whole thing is too time consuming.
One would expect with the new all singing and dancing watches now produced this should be an easy option to install. Even my charge 2 can turn off notifications at the push of a button why not the step count?

Copy the address of the page and past here.
In any case, fitbit never said that every request will be implemented.

@Rich_Laue No one has ever suggested that Fitbit would implement every request. Personally I'm astonished if they implement any. I was just pointing out that this suggestion has been in existence for several years and that the prevention of adding further comments probably discourages voting for it. It also gives rise to votes being split across other similar suggestions, leading to assumptions like yours that the vote is considerably less than it is.

Sorry to be critical, but WOW, you totally don't have a clue. While wearing the Fitbit on my wrist and riding a motorcycle (2017 Harley Road King in my case) because different motorcycles may or may not give different results, I don't know, but my experience is only with mine.
1. A fifteen minute ride around town adds about 1000 steps to my daily total, and several hundred flights of stairs climbed, or sometimes shows me riding a bicycle at a tremendous speed and distance for that 15 minutes.
2. Your suggestion to "delete the steps tracked incorrectly", I just have to shake my head at. If I remembered to keep track of the time I rode my motorcycle and got off it, I would just remember to take the Fitbit off my wrist and put it in my pants pocket, where it still tracks my actual steps, but is not influenced by my motorcycle riding.
3. It is hard to believe that Fitbit doesn't address this problem or even acknowledge it. Just another example of "Corporate greed".
Anyway as a Moderator you should really give specific helpful comments and not just meaningless comments. And also, as a Moderator, when you post a link that is supposed to help answer a problem. Have the link go to the specific problem and not just some general question and answer link.

@barneyrw the link provided explains how to remove excess steps.
Their use to be a couple of third party apps but they no longer are maintained by their developers. We also have a motorcycle event that could be added.
I haven't tried but heard one can manually start workout mode, then edit it to driving or motorcycle

My Versa 2 doesn't show any driving or motorcycle mode when going to Exercise.

"In any case, fitbit never said that every request will be implemented."
Yeah, but when Fitbit is selling a "DEFECTIVE" product, they should fix it. Or at least put a "DISCLAIMER" on the box that "this device is NOT compatible with motorcycle riding or car driving". ie. a picture of a motorcycle with a circle around it and a slash thru it, on the outside of the box where it can be seen before purchase. "Corporate Greed" is all Fitbit is concerned with.I will never ever buy another of their products again.
