Strongly dislike the new update!

  • The new update is horrible - especially the sleep graph! I use the information from this part of the app daily and the previous version was very user friendly when comparing my 30 average and age group to today's stats & seeing time spent in each phase. The new version looks like a Dennis the Menace path with its dotted lines and text mixed in. Please bring back the old version!

Did anybody try today's update to the app? Wondering if by chance they fixed the broken and unreadable sleep functionality

Just tried it, same garbadge. Will revert back to version 3.9

Totally agree - hate the sleep stages graph. Can’t understand it and have tried so hard to get used to it I can’t even look at it anymore!  Bring back the old one!

Best Answer

I agree! The new visual doesn’t provide % for each sleep stage nor can it be put in landscape view.

The crowding and lack of color are design problems.

I have a background in some of this, and other Fitbit users likely do as well. Would have been a good idea to offer the new design prototype  to the community for feedback.

How did you revert to previous.

The app is lame.People will simply drift away from fitbit if you serve up rubbish like that sleep graph.

Yes. No discussions. Countless comments deleted. If we private message, they know others can't see our complaints. I know this will be removed too, but here it is.

Also I might be late to this party, but the web version which I could leave open on my PC/laptop will go in July and you'll have to use the mobile app version. I don't use the sleep app but expect if I did, I will have a problem with that too! The new plain colorless version is bland and uninviting which is a shame as I have a Versa 3 as it looked nice and a charge 5 for exercise and I enjoyed the previous version and used everything on the app as I did not want to have all things Apple. I will probably not bother with this app and the Apple watch is looking very inviting. Thanks for helping me decide to get an Apple watch after all,Fitbit/Google, great idea.

Exactly, Vonnie 1967! I hate the new Google Fitbit update SO much… it not only looks bad, it’s difficult to correct anything in time slept. The “other time slept” is totally inert and deficient in the ability to get into it to make it part of one’s primary sleep. The worst part is with the Fitbit update to Google, it no longer reports the sleep levels well. It shows I have gotten virtually no REM sleep since I updated! Therefore…
I DECIDED TO GET AN APPLE WATCH AND LEAVE MY FORMERLY BELOVED FITBIT… I hate Google for taking away Fitbit, something we all depended on for accurate information and ease of use.
In the transition, while I am learning to use my new Apple Watch, I am still wearing my Fitbit, and the Apple Watch shows my sleep level break out is consistent with my former pre-Google Fitbit and I am actually getting more REM sleep than Google/Fitbit shows!

It’s horrible! I’ve never used anything but Fitbit because I like the smaller sizes, but I’m seriously thinking of switching to the Apple Watch just because of the app. It’s hard to read. I hate that the circles don’t completely close when you meet your goal. Sometimes it gets stuck and shows the number of steps I did today, on ALL my previous days. And now I’ve noticed a few times my Health Metrics has shown that I met 5 out of 5, but when I open the details, I’m actually out of range on one. I’ve never seen an app update go so wrong.

Giving feedback to your community of fitbit users, may not be your best course. You might consider leaving feedback on the Product Feedback board. I found a thread on the Old  Sleep Summary

Lets post where the developers ask you to post.

Personaly I'm glad they got rid of that chart that looks like a 5 year old designed with crayons.

I hate that I can't personalize my app anymore and I hate the sleep section.  If you stay still too long you can't delete this added sleep when its not sleep.

I want to personalize my app again.  If this **ahem** keeps up I'll change devices.  I'm sure I can find a different brand that will allow me to personalize my app.  I don't care that its gone google like everything else has but I do want my apps separate from the whole google personalization. I wish I never signed in with google because now I can't get my original Fitbit back.

I truly wonder if Fitbit reads this stuff and takes in all the complaints or if this is just a sounding board

Fully agree with you

I hate it

@LeanStrongSexy

I never signed in with Google but still got the horrible version. I was on auto-update, so it did it without me being aware of it. Can no longer see auto-update to turn it off.

@Nawtykitty I have no idea. I just started a conversation in a different place and am

The other day I wanted record my walk with the map while I walked and I had to google how to find it in the Fitbit app because it wasn't where it use to be easy access. I had to add the exercise portion of the app from the edit and then tap on it and then press go.  F@@@ I hate that you have to jump through hoops on the app to get where you want to go.

How did you do that? Where was the old version? Do you have a link to an instruction manual?

I’m computer savvy if you give simple steps it would be appreciated and I should be able to understand with minimal explanation. Thanks Sir.
