Swimming with Pixel Watch

Hi, new FitBit user here, thanks to the Pixel Watch. I saw a post mentioning swim tracking with this watch (and the PW2). I didn't think these watches were rated for swimming. I have asked the question on many forums, usually greeted by silence. Is it true? Can I swim with my Pixel Watch (Gen1)?

Thanks for your thoughtful replies.

Yes, you can. Whether it's useful to swim with Pixel Watch? In my opinion, no.

Thank you.

I wonder why it's so difficult to get an official answer from Google. Weird.

But good to know it's not a great swim tracker.

Hi, @RobinOz0791, I swim daily with a PW 2 since I got it more than a month ago, one of my swimming companions has a PW1 since launch & swims regularly. The downside is we only get elapsed time on our wrist while swimming and cannot see the lengths swum. This is frustrating, you can see there are many swimmers subscribing to Product Feedback raising this point, join us & subscribe to one that merits your vote.

Cheers

@RobinOz0791 it's not just "not good". It's probably the worst I've ever seen (only worse is not having swim tracking at all). But unlike Fitbits, PW watches are WearOS and there are thirdparty apps that do decent job and add better, more sophisticated tracking (ie. swim.com app). They may not sync to Fitbit account but after swimming you can always log it manually using data given by thirdparty app.

Can I ask what people believe would be the best value FitBit device for
tracking one's swimming, then?

Thanks in advance.

@RobinOz0791 currently, only Sense left that shows laps while you swim. Since Sense, all Fitbits have been downgraded and show only timer. If you need watch and swim tracking is important I don't recommend any Fitbit (unless you like counting laps in head and then finding out watch counted it wrong). For swim tracking any Fitbit is a big no-no and definitely no value-for-money

Thank you for all that valuable information.
