Having this problem too. Within about 4 days of having my fitbit my phone suddenly reported that the month's data useage was exhausted. Ever since then it won't synch properly with my fitbit. I use bluetooth to synch so why does synching need data allowance? And why has it completely eaten my data anyway if I'm using bluetooth to synch? Feeling very disatisfied - didn't see any warning about this issue - makes Fitbit pretty useless!

Hi @profusia and welcome to the Fitbit Community!
Just as a heads up, I've moved your post from the iOS forum to the Android forum to help keep the boards organized.
Fitbit trackers use Bluetooth Low Energy to sync your tracker and an internet connection is required to upload that data to Fitbit servers. The internet connection does not have to be mobile data, you can also sync while connected to Wi-Fi too.
Click here for more information about how Fitbit trackers sync. Hope this helps!

Hello @profusia,
Welcome to the community!
While I use the Windows Phone (vs. Android) version of the Fitbit App, I haven't found that the Fitbit App uses an unusually large amount of data to do its work.
My phone plan is the 'tiny' 1GB plan per month and halfway through my month I'm still at < 100 MB (less than 10%). I just looked at the specifics for the Fitbit App and it's only consuming ~40MB of data this month (and that's mostly on wi-fi).
While your Fitbit will stop syncing if you don't have internet access, I'm skeptical that this is the app that is causing your data consumption woes.
