I have had my Alta for a couple of years. I had no issues syncing to my Pixel 2 at any point in time. I just upgraded my phone in Dec. My Alta synced for 20 days and just stopped. I've tried everything that's suggest: restart bluetooth, restart phone, reset Alta, getting security update on phone. Nothing seems to be able to connect to my Alta. My phone thinks it's connected to the Alta, but when I force the sync, I get the "can't find fitbit" error.

Hi @oxranne, welcome to the Community Forums!
First, I appreciate your effort and patience for troubleshooting this situation prior to posting, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. If you haven't already done so, I recommend you to check how the syncing procedure works here and see if there's a missing requirement on your Google Pixel 4 that's preventing the syncing procedure to be completed.
Then, you can move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? and let me know how it goes.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
