Fitbit Update: 9/12/19

Hey all!

We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.

In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.

When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Fitbit Update: 7/30/19

Hi everyone.

We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.

While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

Well, good luck everybody. I was seriously considering an upgrade to the Versa but in light of Fitbits pathetic support, on this issue and others, I moved on to a Garmin device.

I was a very early consumer of their products . It boggles my mind that they have been so lazy and unsupportive! The news that they're looking for buyers helped my decision. The way they've handled this is absolutely unacceptable. No wonder they're revenue predictions are dismal.

Even if they sell to Alphabet (Google), I'm done with any product that's related to Fitbit.

lol, funny you mentioned a versa. At a family party recently, I was talking
about me missing their texts to me, because I had my phone set to silent
and I no longer get text messages on my Charge HR, so I missed whatever
they were trying to contact me about. My Dad right away started complaining
that his Versa he can't get notifications, or see his sleep, etc. because
he has to have all the display and notifications set to off, just so he can
have enough battery power to make it through the day as a watch only.
Hilarious. I thought he must be mistaken, so I googled the issue with his
Versa battery not lasting a full day and sure enough its a common issue
posted all over the internet and Fitbit's official fix for the Versa that's
supposed to last 4 days, but only lasts several hours, is to turn off every
optional function, so in essence he's got a very fancy and expensive watch
with pedometer. Unfortunately he can't connect to his app to see his steps
though, because it falls to sync, (another issue with almost all Fitbit's).
Yup... Fitbit is a pretty crappy product and their support is right on par
with the products they produce. Since my Charge HR doesn't work properly
with notifications and keeps screwing up thinking I'm cycling when I'm
driving, and the lens is cracked, (like all Fitbit's), I think I'll try one
of the others on the market. Does Google make anything like a Fitbit
currently?

@toddsdonald I believe there's a few different Android watches (Moto 360 comes to mind) and Samsung has the Gear line as well. Google has a watch OS based on Android similar to apples iWatch, so there's quite a few options. Not sure how the health tracking and stuff is on them though.

Thank you! Maybe I'll try the Moto watch, since I'm getting a Motorola Moto
G7 Power to replace my less than spectacular Google Pixel 3, (great phone
if it had a decent antenna, bigger battery, LED notification light and a
headphone jack). Thanks again for the info.

Prob no new updates. I saw an article that is talking about a possible sale to Google's parent company, Alphabet.

The move makes sense and might be a good since Google probably has way more
financial leverage to design a lens that doesn't crack after a few months
and has software that works a bit better, (keeping in mind anything Google
releases is beta and going to have bugs guaranteed). Plus nobody's customer
service is worse than Google's, so Fitbit's already stellar reputation of
poor service can only be made worse, (which I'm guessing is better for
them, because i suppose they get tired of hearing that the stuff they sell
doesn't work - that way they just follow Google's customer service model
which is A) not available or B) non responsive.

Gotta love technology lol

Years ago there was a company that got caught for selling fake radar
detector blockers for cars. The CEO said making products that don't do what
they're supposed to do is actually a great business model, because at
worse, it only results in 50% return rate. We're a society of consumers
which has embraced mediocrity and products or services that just plain
don't do what they're supposed to. Case in point, I bought an $800 phone
that has a defective battery. The manufacturer (Google) and vendor
(Verizon) both have the same mindset of resolution, which is that I should
work on the device to troubleshoot and try to fix it. Hmmmmm that's our
world today. It used to be that company's sold stuff that was intentionally
supposed to actually do what they advertised and if it didn't, they would
fix it, or you could return it. Not today. With enough complaining to
corporate, they agreed to take the phone back as a return without me
needing to send it in for warranty repair first, ($15 per month for
warranty protection). Now my only concern is turning the phone to their
black hole in Fort Worth TX, (black hole because many people that return
their devices to that location never see a credit, despite tracking
numbers, etc). Its a crap shoot with any technology based product. I think
its pretty well established that Fitbit is a pretty poorly run outfit
selling inferior products and software, but able to collect and cash in on
millions of user's personal data including bodily statistics and exercise
habits. That's probably the gold mine for them, not the material goods at a
couple hundred a pop.

Has there been an update on this? my bit still displays just the sender not message. My bit also now displays the incorrect caller for incoming calls. I have the Samsung 10e with the Charge 2. Both had work correctly prior to July 2019. The version is 3.3 and the firmware version is 22.22.58.0

No joy with syncing.  Fitbit flex still doesn't sync after 3.6.1 update. Pathetic this has been going on for over a month.  I can't believe this place hasn't shut down.  Is every tracker experiencing the same issues?  Terrible customer service!  Terrible support !  I loved my original flex because I wear a real watch but even after every type of trick or method of syncing and resetting tracker , force stopping app, uninstalling app still no luck on syncing like before the Aug app update.   I'm glad my new garmin tracker is on the way.

I'm guessing they are just selling whatever inventory they can, they'll
probably just let the new owner's deal with the software issues when the
company sells.

I hope the new buyers realise what they are buying...

I left a nastygram on Google Play. I have been dealing with this issue since July. Not only do the text messages not show up, the phone number that shows up is the previous caller. I have updated to Messages+ and that has helped, but it's disappointing that it's been two months of being frustrated. I was going to update to the Versa, but glad I didn't since I will never buy another product through Fitbit since they do not care about their customers.

Mines been doing the same...so is my hubbys!  Shows last peraon that called. TERRIBLE fitbit!!!! But what's this messages+?

It has been nearly two months, still no fix.

Mine doesn't even display the last caller I've been checking the call log and it's any random number from the log

Just noticed tonight that mine doesn't even notify me when I get a call anymore. Not sure when that started, but I asked my fiancee to call me to verify. Not a single buzz. Keep up the great work, Fitbit.
