Fitbit Update: 9/12/19
Hey all!
We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.
In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.
When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!
Fitbit Update: 7/30/19
Hi everyone.
We're aware of these issues with receiving only the sender's name from your text messages. This appears to have started with the Fitbit for Android app version 3.0. If you're experiencing this yourself with your Fitbit device, please know we're working on a fix.
While our team investigates this further, we just ask for your patience. Once I have information for a fix, I'll make an announcement here on this thread.

I'm in the same situation, I wouldn't have a clue how to download and reset the app to a previous version. I have to keep my phone on silent at work and rely on texts coming though the fitbit, that was the main reason for buying it. We're now nearly a month in and the latest update hasn't made any difference. They should roll everyone back to the version prior to the issues starting whilst they work on fixing the problem. It's so frustrating!

Use the browser on your smartphone to find the a p k mirror site and search for fitbit. Download version 2.95. Once you've downloaded it to your phone, locate the file (e.g., My Files > Downloads) and click on it to install. You might get warning messages but I believe the file from a p k is safe.

Same problem with an LG G6. Notification showing sender name only. Been doing it since the last update. Very frustrating.

I am also having the same issue. I have a charge 2 and a Samsung 9...worked perfect for the longest time and just like all of you I get notified that I received a text message and from who, but it doesn't display the actual message. I am very frustrated as well.

Thank you! I've uninstalled the app and gone back to 2.95 and it's working. I'll leave auto app update switched off until they sort out the issues.

Got it to work. See below.........
My husband's charge 2 started doing the same thing a few weeks ago after the update to the Fitbit app. He spent over an hour with customer service got a replacement refurbished charge 2 yesterday and that wouldn't even sync to his account. I fb messaged Fitbit customer service and got they know of the problem. The newest update didnt fix it. So found a website that has the 2.95 versions of the app. Downloaded on my husband phone that is the android. He has a Samsung galaxy s8. I think the link below should work for all androids though. We didn't even uninstall the app before installing this one. It just updated it. Fitbit won't let me put the link below so do a search for Fitbit 2.95 app and chose the one that says up to down (but without spaces) since that site isnt allowed on this forum.

Same problem here, message displays sender but not message:
Samsung Galaxy S8+
Android 9.0
Fitbit Charge 2
Of note: My wife has a charge 2 and an iPhone. She is not experiencing this problem.

So this is a known issue? Does Fitbit have a timeline of when a fix may be out? It sounds like it is connected to the recent android app update.
This is a real step backwards. A timeline to a fix would be appreciated.

Since this problem seems to be associated with an app update on or around 7/11/19, is there anyway to uninstall this current version and get the previous version through some link?

that is the reason my husband got his charge 2 as well. It is really easy to get it to go to a previous version. We were able to get my husband's do downgrade to the 2.95 version on Saturday. Google Fitbit 2.95 app, choose the website that says up to down (but without spaces). I tried to put the link and this forum won't let me put it. Click download. It will say you already have a version of Fitbit on your phone do you wish to update it. Say yes and then it will get your 2.95 version back. We then made sure in the google play store to turn off the auto-update feature for Fitbit.
