I recently got a different tracking device. My husband has the Fitbit Charge 6. I closed my Fitbit account, but my texts are going to his Charge 6. How do I stop this?

@nehring-shirley  I didn't realize it's still on your phone. That complicates things a bit.  I think texts and maybe some other things are actually connected to phone rather than to fitbit account.  What you have to do is on phone app, tap battery icon top left > Charge 6 > Notifications > Text Messages > Off
Likewise for any other kind of notifications that might come up such as calls, calendar events, emails, etc.
Then I'm not sure if that will actually prevent the text messages from going through, or just the notifications of them - you will just have to try to test that.  I'm no expert on this part.

It's not clear if you mean you got a different fitbit model, or something completely different.  If a different Fitbit, I suppose too late for this now, but there was no need to close your Fitbit account. All you had to do was remove the Charge 6 from your account, or even just added  the different device to your account, which would have removed the Charge 6.

However if you went to non-Fitbit, I'm not criticizing.  The problem is that your phone's bluetooth is still linked to the Charge 6.  You can go to your phone's bluetooth settings and disconnect it.  However, I suspect your husband was not able to get his phone's bluetooth also connected to the Charge 6.  Test it out, and he might have to remove the Charge 6, and the again to connect the phone to tracker.  I would also wonder if your new tracker is now connected to you phone - testing and making sure.

Incidentally, I think the way to have a voided this would have been to have removed to Charge 6 from your account first, which would have undone the bluetooth connection to phone.
Good luck.  Hope I didn't completely confuse you.  If I did, ask for more help  and somebody else can probably give better answer.

I'm a little confused. My husband has a flip phone so his charge 6 has to
be on my phone. He does not text.
I'm the one who canceled my Fitbit account because I got something else. If
I canceled my account, why would my texts be on his Fitbit? He never got
them before. I'll try the suggestion about Bluetooth.

@JohnnyRow Thanks for your help. Top!

@nehring-shirley Welcome to the forums, thanks for reaching out about the notifications on the Fitbit Charge 6. I will be happy to explain why that was happening.

As @JohnnyRow explained, the notifications are bound to the phone the device is connected rather than the account. Given that the device was previously paired to your account on your phone and now it is still connected to the same phone but to a different account, when the notifications were set up, they are sent from the smartphone to the device. This is a Bluetooth connection directly to the device. That is the reason the text notifications were still sent to the Charge 6.

I am glad to read that it is now solved. You had two options. Manage the notifications settings on the Fitbit app or go to the Bluetooth settings on your smartphone and just remove the Charge 6 from the list. That will interrupt the Bluetooth connection generated for the notifcations communication. I assume you did either or. I wish you and your husband a great time training. Have a nice day!
