Text of a message not displaying on Alta

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've read my forums about this problem but can't seem to find a solution. I previously had a Samsung S4 which worked perfectly with my Alta. It broke and I got a new S4. With this S4, the text of the message doesn't dislay. All it says is "Message" then "New Message". Doesn't tell me who it's from and what the message is.  I tried all the troubleshootting from all the different forums and contacting fitbit support. They sent me a new Alta pebble and I am still having the same problem.

My preview message is turned on in the message app. I have the notifications turned on in the fitbit app. I tried deleting and re-adding the app. Deleteing the device, unpairing the device. Nothing worked.

Has anyone had this exactly problem? I'm starting to think it's my phone, but it's weird because it worked on my old S4.

Thanks!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @ameawad!

Let me help you out, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Disconnect ("unpair") your tracker in your mobile device's Bluetooth settings. The instructions differ by device, but in most cases:
    1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth and find your tracker in the list of paired devices.
    2. Tap Forget or Forget Device to unpair your tracker.
  2. Reboot your mobile device.
  3. In the Fitbit app, tap Allow notifications access and allow access to the Fitbit Notification Service.
  4. Turn on call, text, or calendar notifications.

If the issue persists check out this great article, you will find further assistance.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi yes I've done all that many times. There was a problem with my phone's
bluetooth so I just received another. Same Samsung S4. Bluetooth works
fine but I still cannot get the actual text of my text messages or calendar
notifications. The only thing that works find is the phone notification.
Perhaps Fitbit no longer supports the Samsung S4 with OS 4.3?

Thanks for the update @ameawad! Fitbit just released an app update, version 2.33. Can you please double check if you have the latest app version?

To see what version of the Fitbit app is installed on your device:

  1. Tap the menu button.
  2. Tap Help.
  3. Tap Fitbit App.

If you need to update the Fitbit app you can go to https://www.fitbit.com/us/app or follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Play store on your device.
  2. Tap the menu button.
  3. Tap My Apps and choose the Fitbit app.
  4. Tap Update. If you want automatic updates in the future, check the Allow automatic updating box.

I hope this helps, keep me posted! 😉

Turns out the problem was the phone itself. StraightTalk phones don't
work correctly with FitBit.
