The current FitBit app more reflects app design from 5 or 10 years ago, rather than a modern, functional, efficient design.
-Colour/Layout choices are non existent.
-The interface is reminiscent of Flash web design (Tiles? In the 21st Century? )
-There is a complete lack of over-all design.... Every different function feels more like one is working with a disparate web page rather than a cohesive app
-The functionality within those sections tends to be the very example of inefficiency, taking multiple clicks to achieve simple, straight forward tasks
People pay good money for the devices that power these apps.... The customers are deserving of much better than they, than we, currently receive.
2019 deserves to be the year of the FitBit app total redesign. Personally, I'd love to see FitBit open access to the code, and let "Crowdsource" improve the app.

That will probably happen about the same time as when Apple provides open source code to their products.

Apple schmapple
Why set one's sights so low?
As paying customers, we deserve better than the fitbit app as it stands

I couldn't agree more. Aside from aesthetics and functionality, there is so much potential with the data fitbit is collecting. I have so many ideas I don't know where to begin. Basic correlation or even an overlay of data metrics is nonexistent.
I hope there is an admin reading this. Here is an easy starting point:

This is a picture of me not holding my breath
Is there a less responsive tech company than Fitbit

The irony is they ARE collecting the data. It's on THEIR servers. No one is asking for new vitals. Just massaging the data a bit and ptesenting it in a more interesting format. But I think until they get their financials in order, you're right, there is no reason to hold our breath.

There may be hope! In the press release for the new trackers announced last week it suggests a major revamp of the app is on its way:
"The Fitbit app will soon receive a major redesign, giving users more ways to personalize their health journey on Fitbit. The new design will make it easier to view and understand their health and fitness stats, log data, discover new content, see their progress in Challenges, and better connect with Fitbit’s large global health and fitness social community. The update also adds Fitbit Focus, a new section found at the top of the dashboard that delivers relevant insights, messages and tips to keep users engaged, informed and motivated."
