I'm new to Fitbit, I went to the gym and walked 36 minutes on the treadmill but the Fitbit only recorded 20 minutes. Also, it didn't continue to record my steps after I finished. What could be the problem? I have an android phone.
Thanks

@deegk Welcome! It's good that the community is growing!
Let me help you with your activity and steps not being recorded. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. If your heart rate is high but there isn't much motion (yoga, weight lifting, etc.) then these activities will be difficult to be detected by your device. Still you can manually log your activity so you have a record on your account or use the activity mode on the device itself.
Regarding the steps your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may be still but you could be moving or walking. This may happen when you are pushing a cart or holding bars while walking or doing treadmill. For added sensitivity you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand but select that hand as non dominant on the device’s settings to make it more sensitive to movement. Also make sure your hands are moving so the device can properly track your steps.
Let me know how it goes.
