Tracked Exercise Disappearing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently started using the track exercise function for my morning walk, but it hasn't saved a single one since March 11 (I think the app may have updated then? I'm on version 2.45 and I have a zip and a galaxy S5). I'll finish my walk and be presented with my map and stats, but when I check back later it says my last exercise was March 11.

There's also been quite a discrepancy between my tracker and the app; this morning the app told me my walk was ~7800 steps while my tracker said ~6400. I worry the tracker is possibly overriding the app data.

I did have a look for similar problems, but most seemed to happen 2 years ago so I figured they weren't necessarily relevant answers any more.

I'll try reinstalling the app before tomorrow's walk. Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @SunsetRunner, it's nice to have you on board in the Fitbit Community!  I do not recommend to uninstall the app, as this may carried other issues. This is just as a last resource if it is necessary.

I believed you are using the MobileRun feature on your app, since the Zip has not GPS capabilities, so its important to have some key point in mind:

  1. Make sure your phone can track your activity when you're out of Wi-Fi range. This is usually achieved by making sure Cellular Data is turned on.
  2. Make sure GPS can continue tracking while your phone is locked.
  3. Make sure your phone can identify your location. This is usually achieved by enabling Location Services within your privacy settings.

If all this is correct and your exercise is not being recorded, since you are running the latest version of the app, please log out from your Fitbit account and restart your phone. Wait until it has initialized again, go to your app manager in your phone settings and look for the Fitbit app. Here clear the cache and data of the app. Once you have done this go back and log in to your Fitbit account.

Regarding the steps are not matching with your app and your Zip, make sure it has enough battery charge or you can attempt restarting your Zip if the issue persists. For more details about the restart please take a look at this post.

Hope this helps and don't forget to keep me updated.
