Treadmill vs walking

Why when I log 30 minutes on the treadmill vs 30 minutes of walking is there such a difference in calories burned? I walk much faster on the treadmill and yet I burn less calories? Doesn't make sense to me. Thanks.

Hey, @Puppymomkaren! It is nice to see you around. In this case This could be because you are putting your hands on the holders, so it is tracking less steps than what you are actually doing.

Please give it a try and let me know!Cat Wink

No, not holding on, that's what's weird, swinging both arms.

Well @Puppymomkaren, I wouldn't be able to tell which information is more accurate since we are talking of different technologies to read your calories. Although if you were holding the side bars of the treadmill machine, I can believe it may have an impact on your calories. My recommendation is to start the exercise mode (side button of your tracker) and adjust the wristband two fingers above the wristbone for improve the accuracy of the heart rate and by consequence improve the accuracy of your calories burned. Also try to maintain a constant pace whitout pauses while you are on the treadmill.

Hope this recommendations helps, keep me posted how it goes.

Thanks so much. I've lost 23 pounds on my journey since I started wearing my Fitbit, and exercising. It makes me accountable, which I need. I keep track of all my calories on my dashboard, which I love also.  I have about 50 lbs to go, but one pound at a time!I truly "live" by my fitbit! LOL It's just the crutch I needed. 💜👍
