Trying to Create Group on App

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

On Google Pixel phone, I can't seem to successfully create a group on the app.  I enter details for all 3 fields, and no errors are received, just continue button is grayed out.  Also try to add image JPEG, and says it can't edit this type of image?  Any help?  Tried looking to do online vs app, but apparently those groups are different?

Hi @BTepper, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know which Android mobile device are you using? When was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? In the meantime I receive your answers, please try the following steps and let me know if the issue persists:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app.
  2. Uninstall the app from your mobile device.
  3. Make sure that the Android version is up to date.
  4. Reboot your mobile device.
  5. Reinstall the Fitbit app.
  6. Login using your account credentials.

Looking forward to your reply.

This affects me as well.   I have a Google Pixel 3a (Android 11, security update November 5,2020).  I can't add any image to my profile nor a group as it just says it can't edit the image, and, from what I see with the web groups no longer active, it also precludes me creating any groups.

@RicardoFitbit so you understand where I'm running into my problem.  I go to community->groups->create group (on updated android app on google pixel 2).

I enter my title (contains space) 14/25 char, description (contains hyphen) 5/100 char, rules (space and .)  I also try to add image to which I'm prompted that editing is not supported for this image (56 kB 1.2MP 1080 x 1107 JPG).

There are not error prompts that any of these fields are invalid, or why, and the option to CREATE is grayed out.

**Update** removed spaces and any char from all 3 fields, still CREATE grayed out, and no indication why.

Please advise.

I have the exact same symptoms.   As soon as I start typing in the name field the "CREATE" is grayed out.   I find some post buried in these forums that the reason is that there needs to be a picture for the group (though there is no indication of that on the create group page).   The problem is that I can't add a picture as I always get the error that editing is not supported for this image.   As I can't add an image, I can't create a group.   Please solve the problem with adding an image so we can create groups (or forego the requirement for an image to be able to create a group).

@RicardoFitbit yes, exactly what @_sjm_ said.  I followed your force quit, uninstall, reinstall, relogin, same problem.  I even tried to both upload an image, and or use the camera to update image, but neither worked.  If an image is a requirement, fix the uploader, if not remove the requirement.  This seems to be an issue with Android, particularly Pixel devices.

I just did the whole stop/uninstall/update/etc thing (now on Security update December 05, 2020 -- Android 11) on my Pixel3a.   Same thing happens still.   Same error on trying to use any image.

@RicardoFitbitIs there no reply nor remedy?  Are we effectively locked out of creating groups?

I can not create a group either. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20. I can not upload a photo. This is very annoying and inconvenient.

Not helpful! I still can not upload a photo to create a group.
