Turn off ads on device and in app

If I can't figure out how to switch this off, I have no problem looking for another device that won't do this...

I went to start my work out and then my Fitbit screen told me to check my ap. When I did it was for an ad. Are you kidding? That's some negative feedback loop being created. I was excited to see what cool thing would be on my app for the workout I had selected and was sorely disappointed. It makes me trust Fitbit less and eventually I'm going to be a slave to ads from my wrist. We already live in a world of too many ads. Why can't we just create amazing products that help society?

Please help me turn this off or add it to the top of your feature list, because I want to believe that Fitbit's values of promoting exercise and fitness are worth more than an irritating marketing campaign. Send me an email instead if you must.

@Ohhtarryn, the reason your tracker indicated you needed to check your app was because it could not connect to the GPS on your phone - it had nothing to do with any ads.  In your app, to effectively use the GPS for tracked exercises ensure you have turned on Enable Notification Widget, and Always Connected is enabled.

Thanks for the clarification.

How can I turn off the ads on a device I've purchased and not gotten for
free?

@Ohhtarryn, there are no ads in the app that I am aware of.  I have never seen an advertisement pop up on mine. You may wish to post a screenshot of the ads so they can be identified.

The Android app definitely has ads - I launched it to check my Fitbit settings and a Father's Day promotion with Fitbit discounts appeared. Gross.
