Unable to Transition to Google Account from Fitbit account - Is there any support?

Over 3 months ago, I tried to update fitibt from a fitbit account to a Google account.

I could not because a fitbit child account was still using fitibit. That wasn't true, as that account had already been transitioned from Fitbit to Google.

I went through the steps to close the child account. Google said that it would take between 30 and 90 days. Over 90 days passed, and the error that I could not upgrade went away.

So I tried to switch from fitbit to Google. I got the same error there was a clild account. I tried to close it. I now have the same message again that the account is pending deletion, and it can take up to 90 days.

If it just errors out again, then I will not be able to switch before the end of the year when Google sunsets all fitbit accounts.

After spending 8 hours over the course of 3 months with Fitbit support, they told me today I have to contact Google account support. However, there is no google acocunt support.

I get that Google has decided it doesn't care about customers and has just let all support lapse across all its products, but is there a way to actually contact them about issues like this that are caused by Google? They are breaking their own data retention policies by keeping accounts marked for deletion. This seems like a serious issue Google is just ignoring since they don't care about anyone's privacy.

Is there any resolution or is it time to just move away form Google? I've been a fitbit customer since May 2013 when the Fitbit One launched. It looks like I'm going to absolutely lose 12 years of data with no resolution at all.

Hi Brad99,

I have sort of the same issue, today I spent a lot of time chatting with 4 Google supportpeople and after that with a Fitbit supportguy. They were all unable to solve the problem. I never before had the experience with Google making things this difficult.

I've now been told that Google can take over the 60/90 days they say they will delete and account in and will retain the data until they can remove it - which could be forever. Google is clearly not respecting any data retention statements the make and their privacy policies are now so vague they can keep your data forever and keep using it regardless of you wanting it gone. I just don't want to lose 12 years of data, so what is going to happen is that Google will keep all my and my kid's data but will not let us access it. So we have to start over losing all our data - but Google is allowed to keep it forever.
