Unable to add a device through FitBit app

I lost my current FitBit, but had a backup which I attempted to add via the app.

When I click on 'Add device' under 'Add Connections', it brings up a 'Select device' screen, which just spins and spins.    In the past, this has worked just fine.  I found my FitBit model on the page, clicked on it, and was able to link it to my account.   Now, it's impossible to do that.

How am I supposed to add a new device?

Is the backup device the same model as the one you lost?
Have you tried restarting your phone?
Also try clearing the cache for the Fitbit app in your phone settings.
If you're still having issues, please post back and we can have you try other potential fixes.

Hello and thanks for the reply.   The "new" FitBit is exactly the same model as the other one.  I tried restarting the phone and the app.

Whether it's the same model or something new,  the issue is with the app being unable to present me with a list of possible devices to register.  It's acting as though it cannot connect to whatever resource normally supplies those devices.

I have tried registering both on my local WiFi network and through my Verizon data connection.

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled the FitBit software.    That seems to have fixed it.

Glad to hear it's working again for you.

Any idea where you may have lost the other one?

I know when I looked at it last and when I realized it was missing.  Based on that, I don't know how it could be anywhere but the house or my yard.  Unfortunately, it's a Zip, so it's pretty small.  It probably got kicked under something.

Maybe the mower will find it.  Ugh.

I was troubleshooting my Pixel Watch on Monday and part of the process was removing the watch from the Fitbit app and re-adding it and I had the same exact issue as you, only thing that worked was a full uninstall/reinstall of the Fitbit app.

There are Bluetooth scanners in the Play Store that might help you locate the lost device as long as it still has battery power.
