Unable to pair my Fitbit Charge 3 with Phone

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

I setup my Fitbit charge 3 on Apple phone and it worked fine.

I then disconnected my tracker from my IPhone and deleted Fitbit app from iPhone.

I installed the Fitbit app on my Android phone (Micromax Canvas 2) and here is the problem.

I am unable to pair the tracker with Android phone.

I have tried restarting my Android phone and tracker but nothing is helps.

Please suggest how to connect/pair it.

When you say you disconnected the tracker from the iPhone do you mean in the fitbit app or in the phone's bluetooth settings? If in the app then make sure there isn't still a connection to the fitbit in the bluetooth settings as this could be blocking connection to the new phone.

If it's not that then it may simply be that your Android phone doesn't work with fitbits. It's not on the list of supported devices at www.fitbit.com/devices which means that either it hasn't been tested yet or it has been tested but shown to not work.

What is your Android version? How far did you get into the tracker setup on your phone? Did you get to the stage that it is physically trying to discover the tracker (via bluetooth?).

Hello,

I reached to the point where it says add devices and then could not find the tracker and message on phone appears to do the setup via computer.

The phone could not detect the tracker Bluetooth.

I have to look into the Android version.

Thanks for list of compatible devices.

This notion of 'compatible devices' is something that imho is not acceptable - I mean it SHOULD work no matter what on ANY device, as long as the OS (Android whatever) is current and supported, and you have bluetooth and wifi, of course.

>> then could not find the tracker

Are you sure you have bluetooth on? You may want to turn it off, and turn it on again. Also, it may be usefull to kill the Fitbit app in the Android settings menu and then start the app, and then enable bluetooth. Syncing seems to be a problem with the new devices.

If you find that the fitbit app jumps back to the main screen when you try to add a device, you have to uninstall the app (again under Adroid settings menu for the app). Then reinstall, relogin and try again, it should work then.

I did not understand what you try to say here...

Good luck, don't give up on the phone just yet!!! PS, my phone is neither "supported", and I could not care less.

You made just need to update your Fitbit app to the new software that just came out on October the 4th. https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2025/?l=en_US&c=Topics%3AAndroid&fs=Search&pn=1Screenshot_20181015-044148_Fitbit.jpg

Android syncing has been broken since early August because Fitbit failed to test their products with the latest version of Android, which was available for beta testing months prior.

This is a known issue. It's not your phone, don't buy another one, this is a Fitbit issue and we're ALL waiting for a fix. And waiting. And waiting.

1. We don't know what Android version the O.P. has, maybe 9, maybe older. The above only affects 9

2. So, my windows 3.0 programs from 20 years ago STILL works under windows 10, and probably will continue to work forever.  But for every new Android version that Google manages to spit out, backward compatability is a gift, definitively not a given. It is easy to blame fitbit, but please explain what is so incredible complex that suddenly things don't work with a newer OS version. Google is as much to blame if you ask me if not more. That's not to deny that there are issues (big) with the fitbit software in general. Yes, it does many things rather well, but then there are at least an equal amount of things it doesn't do well, or at best so-so...

And yet, Bluetooth sync to my car didn't break with the new version of Android. Bluetooth sync to my laptop didn't break with the new version of Android. Bluetooth sync to my headphones didn't break with the new version of Android. The only thing broken - Bluetooth sync to my Fitbit. And they've been unable/unwilling to fix it since August, and haven't even provided an update on the problem in over two weeks.

This is Fitbit's fault, their handling of it is embarrassing, appalling, and inexcusable.

Hello everyone!

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, we truly appreciate it.

@nainasinghdocs if your phone is not on the list that could explain what is going on. This is because

the app has not been fully optimized to work with that phone.

As long as it fulfills the minimum requirements, Android 4.4 and Bluetooth 4.0, there is a possibility that it can work but we cannot guarantee it. Some users of unsupported devices have mentioned that following these steps helps with the syncing.

If none of the above works, you could try to use a computer or another mobile device to try and sync your Fitbit to your account. Click here to get instructions on how to sync with other devices.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I just did this with mine and it worked.  Remove your tracker from your app (if you have sync'd before).  Do a full restart on your charge.  Press the button, swipe over to setting, tap about, press remove user data.  Once it reboots do the same thing but this time just click reboot device.  (Apparently when it removes user data it doesn't do a full reboot).  Go back into your app and select setup device.  What sucks is your going to lose any data that wasn't sync'd.  For me it was 7 days worth.

@Krish11  "Sync does not take place automatically.even when I press sync , after a period of searching it does not sync!" -- It's a little difficult to understand what exactly you mean. Do I understand the following correctly? You opened the mobile app, went to the Versa page, pressed the manual sync button, you did not get an error message, it (the button) starts spinning for a while, and then it just stops. And the sync time is not updated?  The button spins for say at least 30seconds or so? If that is the case, you should go to your dashboard at www.fitbit.com and see if the data is synchronised there, it probably is. Please check and confirm.

I uninstalled the fitbit charge 3 app and reinstalled it after downloading the app from Google  play

Then I switched off my android phone and rebooted again, activated  the  blue tooth and the phone was able to detect the fitbit charge three and it paired. Then when I opened the fitbit software, sync took place transferring data from fit bit to the cell phone. I keep the location on and all day sync on .

Now regularly the fitbit syncs with phone and there is also regular communication between cellphone and fitbit charge 3 on my wrist showing mail received and vibrates when there is a call on the cellphone.

All problem sorted out.

Thanks for mentioning that about the Fitbit possibly paired on Bluetooth settings. I have an iPhone and it was showing an item on the settings as just "IPhone". I couldn't figure out why that was there. As soon as I deleted it the Fitbit Charge 3 started syncing properly in the app! Great!! 🙂
