Unfortunately app has stopped

The fitbit app was working just fine on my Galaxy S7 and Galaxy Tab A. I restarted my phone and now everytime I try and open the app, I get an error that says "unfortunately Fitbit has stopped." Now the same error is popping up on my tablet. I've restarted, deleted the app, reinstalled several times. My devices are up-to-date. In have no idea what's going on. Any suggestions? I see a lot of people are experiencing similar problems.

@mrtmocrew @Bob-HR @Vampie26 I recommend confirming that you're on the latest version of the Fitbit app for Android, version 2.33. Once confirmed, please give opening the app another try and let me know if you continue to experience the issue.

If you're still experiencing the issue, please provide the step-by-step on how you are able to recreate the issue and also provide a screenshot of the error message. That will be super useful!

Hi, @mrtmocrew! Have you tried clear the app's cache and data? That might help. Sometimes, even when you remove the app, the data stays on the phone for a while and if that's the issue, it could be messing things up.

@mrtmocrew Welcome to our Community! Where you able to access your app? Did you try @MakMak's suggestion? What version of the app you were running when the issue appeared. Once you uninstall it you get the most updated one and I would like to know if you are still having issues with this version (if the issue started with an old one. Also try removing the app, restarting your phone(wait a minute before turning your phone back on) and setup the app again.

Let me know how it goes!

My GS6 received the update to version 2.32 on about 8/26 and worked fine until last night.  This morning I powered up my tablet, which did not have the update and everything worked fine until the app updated.

After receiving the message,  the FitBit app is still in my open apps list but the screen is blank.

My data seemed to sync but you have to go to the website to see it.

Thanks for the update @Bob-HR! Yikes, that sounds pretty weird. Have you tried logging out and then logging back in. That usually does the trick! Try force quitting your app as well. If you've done so to no avail, please contact our Support Team for a second opinion. Mention them all the troubleshooting steps you've performed so they can properly follow up with your case! Cat Tongue Good luck and keep me posted!

The app, on my Nexus 5, was crashing quite a bit today as I played with the new Adventures feature.

I sent the log a couple times, and just powered through to finish my first adventure.

Flex (Christmas 2014), ChargeHR (Christmas 2015). Wife is using the Flex now! Nope, that Flex has died. Alta ordered 12/15/16 as Flex replacement. So far, she likes it. Nope, alta battery only lasts 2 days, started at 7. Support contacted 12/7/17. Hope warranty covers it.

Hi EricJRW, I had the same problem last week when I did Vernal falls and Yosemite loop, missed out on some of the treasure because of this. Monday I did Vernal Falls again and again it kept crashing, but like you I too sent logs, powered through and was very diligent in syncing and looking often until I found them all. A bit frustrating. Will redo the loop, also did in 9 or 10 hours, and then will do the final one.If you found all your treasures on the first try, congratulations!!!

Hi @MariamV, sorry for the delayed response.

When the app crashes, the phone (Nexus 5, Android 6.0.1) presents the option to quit or send logs. I've sent the logs a few times. I don't really know where the logs go, I assume to the developer of the app, but maybe they go to google. If there is something else I should do, please let me know.

Fitbit app is version 2.32. I do not see the option to update, so I assume it's up to date, but I don't know for sure. <-- Just fixed the app version, I previously read it from the wrong screen. Forgot where I found the "3.9" ;-(

Thank you for your help. I'll be heading out soon to work on the next leg of the virtual hike. I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh, In gathering the above I saw my phone has some patches to apply. I'll do that before I go out. I'm in the optimizing app phase now, 7 of 72. Sheesh. I though the optimization thing was getting fixed. Maybe next release of the O/S. Nougat (7.0) has not been release to my phone yet.

Cheers, Eric

Hi Eric JRW, thanks, I sure hope they have fixed the problem of fitbit stopping everytime I try to get a treasure!

Finished Valley loop at 5:04 am, had to send at least 6 to 8 reports for app stopping, lost count! I worked my tush off to finish in 5 hours, all but one 15 minute period was very intense exercise. However, probably because of their stopping, they claim I only got 25 treasures and said next time collect them right away to get a badge! Are they kidding or just totally nuts!!! I counted the treasures along the trail several times and in the journal each time I collected one. All of them in the journal say COLLECTED, ALL 26 OF THEM!!! IF there is supposed to be more than 26 ok, but I was very diligent and am sure I got them all. Logged into app but can't log into support, so will have to call. Has anyone else had this problem and did it get resolved?
I love getting these badges because I am a competitive senior and all my friends are young people. I always crush them, and yes I love teasing them!!!!! Lol We have a joke going that the cat wears the Fitbit and runs around all night! Lol

Called support, have to exchange for a new one because tracker is not working properly. Last few days heart beats per minute graph is showing the day before and not current day until later in morning or afternoon. Between that and the adventure treasures not being recorded they say it is defective. Great, a week with no tracker!

Hi ErickFitbit. Called support and talked to Paul. Told him I didn't think it was my tracker. I had updated but not reset tracker, so I did then. Didn't help. He agreed with me that is was not the tracker but he said it was the tile and put in a work order or whatever. Next day graph came up at 5 am when I checked it. My daughter had been doing the same thing but I guess her's is working now too. Thank you so much for getting back to me about this. The community is so great!!!

Now if they would get it fixed so daughter isn't getting the message that she can't join more than 5 challenges when she is not in any. Going on for 2 months. They kept telling her they re working on it. Nothing she has tried has helped. I talked to support about it and she sent the info they asked for. Hope it is fixed soon, I got the Fitbit so we could challenge each other. I love my daughter, but can't wait to crush her! Lol

Hi again ErickFitbit, I just got smartphone and fitbbit in May so I could do the Fitbit challenges with my daughter. Lol, that is not working out because app is messed up and she has been locked out of them for 2 months!!!
Haven't done the last adventure yet, hoping they will get it fixed soon.. Thanks again, you've all been great! Sorry, this old gal is still trying to catch up with all this tech stuff. Next year we are supposed to get Internet through the electric co-op and I m even going to get that and hook up a computer!!! Lol
Will be back when I do next adventure and let you know if it is working or not. If not I will see if my son or grandaughter can show me how to do that screen shot thing you talked about. There is so much to learn about these things!!!
Other problem with heartbeat tile is getting better. It finally showed today instead of Tuesday by 2:47 am, on the graph page, better than 5:30am yesterday and afternoons for several days before. Rebooted tracker and phone and reopened app (it is the latest update) but nothing has totally helped that situation! But I am optimistic!!!! Ann other ideas you have wI'll be greatly appreciated.

Well I don't that's true anymore... Apparently I did miss some treasures. I have yet to get the "all treasures" badge. Maybe today.
