Want to get hourly water reminders?

Hi all!

I was looking around the forums for how to get hourly water reminders, and it seems it's not supported. That bummed me out a bit, so I decided to come up with a workaround!

Note: I've only tested this with my Charge 2, so caveat emptor. But it should work with any Fitbit capable of SMS notifications! Also, I believe (but am not 100% sure) that this will only work for Android phones.

  1. First, you'll need the Tasker app -- it's a well-known automation app for Android. Install this on your phone.
  2. Next, select "Tasks" at the top of the screen and create new task named "Send Water Reminder". Add a new "Send SMS" action under the "Phone" category.
  3. Enter your phone number and a message (like "Hourly water reminder! Have a drink!"). Click the backwards arrow at the top of the screen twice to save the action and return to the main screen.
  4. Now select "Profiles" at the top of the screen and create a new "Time" profile. Select what times you want the notifications to start & end, as well as how often you want them to occur.
  5. Click the backwards arrow at the top of the screen once. Now select the "Send Water Reminder" action we created in step 2.
  6. Finally, click the home button on your phone (the profile is automatically saved).

And that's it! You'll now get hourly SMS messages reminding you to have a drink -- and assuming you have SMS notifications on your Fitbit, you'll get a vibration reminder there too.

Obviously, I'd love to see built-in water reminders that also stop once you've had enough to drink, but this is a quick & easy workaround in the mean time. Let me know if you have issues!

Even though I have iPhone, I found your solution encouraging.  Since drinking water is needed by everyone, it only makes sense FitBit think about adding the function of an automatic reminder for it.
